AFAIK, Tom Waits have never done a full set at a festival, played outdoors or anywhere with screens. A 25 minute set at BRIDGE SCHOOL being a weird exception because of Neil and being near Tom's home.

Plus I have mixed feelings about him potentially only getting 60 minutes, when he's done 140 at other shows.

I too would blow off all of Radiohead in a heartbeat for 60 minutes of Tom.

And I've seen a 150 minute TW show within the first 5 rows.

It's just that one single bridge school gig at 40 minutes long(youtube proshot) maybe the ONLY time he's EVER played to a crowd larger than 3-4k. Note that TW also approved 1 song to be released on a new BS cd/dvd compilation, finally making his live debut that digital home format(!!!!!!)

Yeah once I heard how his dB performance went I was so happy I decided to stick with catching Krush (who fucking wrecked it). Something about he lit a joint, people started talking shit on him for not passing, then he began dropping airhorn samples between tracks, did not attempt any type of fluid transition from track to track, and would walk off the stage to hit his joint.

As soon as they announced the two weekend thing I thought it was a sign that The Wall was coming to Coachella. Now the current Wall tour ends in March in Central America and Roger has said he is reworking the entire show for outdoor venues, so it seems pretty feasible to me. He also said on Jimmy Fallon last night that, although he wasn't really supposed to say anything yet, the Wall is coming back. Why be cryptic unless he was contractually bound to be? 2012 is gonna be all about the Wall.

For festivals that skew to young audiences, booking 3 headline acts that played shows in the 1980's is curious choice.

Plus for Waters do to set up he'd have to play Friday and crews get his gear out of the way for the Saturday headliner gear about 6 hours after Roger leaves the stage. Possible, but somewhat ambitious production wise.

There's an entire thread somewhere on the board devoted to discussing The Wall and people who were very informed about the logistics of the stage setup said it would be incredibly difficult to have The Wall at coachella. The stage show and theatrics would have to be modified greatly to fit the stage and with all the equipment it would almost be impossible to fit it in with all the other activity on the main stage.

I participated in that thread. Most of it got thown out when Roger admitted to doing US stadiums in the early summer.

None of the staging is more complex than Gaga hedlining a festival. Waters's crew had no problem playing Vancouver/Tacoma on back to back nights which is a 3 hour drive plus customs wait possibly doubling that.

Acts playing the mainstage before Waters only need some stage space and a pair of screens. Just have acts with limited production playing before him.

Cohen did close to 200 shows on that tour. Tom Waits has barely done 100 shows in 25 years.
