    Default The "Top Albums of 2007" Topic to end all other such topics!!!

    So I'm thinking that, as a blanket poll, we have every one who wants to contribute a thorough top 20 albums of 2007, post it here, and then tally who gets the most votes.

    However, to add a bit more to this idea, here's how I'm thinking a proper point system would work:

    20 - 11 = Each earn 1 point
    10 - 6 = Each earn 2 points
    5 - 3 = Each earn 3 points
    2nd = Earns 4 points
    1st = Earns 5 points

    What do you think? I feel this is the most efficient way to determine a Coachella Message Board's Top 20 Albums of 2007 list. Thoughts?
    Upcoming Shows:
    * Dillon Francis + Anamanaguchi -- December 28th

    Going to Weekend 1 of Coachella 2014

    Who is doing the tallying? And are they able to filter out the noob/alias factor?

    Should we not count somebody whose post count is under like 500? I think thats enough to keep any rookies out of the running.

    500 is pretty high. But i guess since you have done 500 almost 20 times over.

    I volunteer myself to do the tally, but if that idea makes a number of you think that I'll slight the list towards Maroon 5, I understand...

    EDIT: I think the post count should be 250.

    What would help is if you allocated your points within your post. That way I can visually scan and allocate votes faster.

    Also I figure we give people until the 1st of January at Midnight (that meaning Midnight January 2nd) to vote.

    Does anyone object to me being the vote counter?

    Seriously, if something was released in 2006, don't put it in your lists. It's like saying that Europe doesn't matter, and, with the internet, as soon as something's released, we've heard it.

    Peter Bjorn and John.

    And, the fact that other lists, not in here, include Lily Allen and Jarvis Cocker.

    It upsets me to see those albums in professional lists. Way to be with the times, guys.

    I have the same qualms with movie lists a lot of the time. Although that's really more grey. Inland Empire was number 1 on my movie list last year, but it's on a ton of lists this year because it only played a few festivals in 2006. Music permeates a little quicker.

    Especially because you know they got the promo cds before they came out in Europe. And, everybody heard Young Folks and whatever Lily Allen song is popular last year.

    I think it would be better if everyone just listed their top 20 albums of the year and the results were tallied by how many times each album got a vote regardless of what rank within each individual list it was.

    So at the end if 30 people made lists, the top album would be the one that appeared on 30 lists, or closest to. It produces a better community vote, I think.

    So at the end if 30 people made lists, the top album would be the one that appeared on 30 lists, or closest to. It produces a better community vote, I think.
    I don't know about that. In theory, we could all have vastly differing lists but list Our Love to Admire by Interpol as #20, and then by this system Our Love to Admire would top the list, even though nobody was all that fond of it. I think it might have been interesting, though vastly complicated, to try the Village Voice system, where you can choose the amount of points allotted to each album.
