MTV must be trying to redeem itself and that's a great way to start. I would stay up late on Sunday nights from midnight til 2 a.m. to watch it back when I was in highschool. I loved the guest hosts. Somewhere I have a vhs copy of Thurston hosting with guests Beck & Mike D. Its gotta be the greatest night in 120 Minutes history.

I've got a few old VHS tapes of MTV. One where Martha Quinn reviews the new Husker Du album Zen Arcade. The old MTV commercials are fun to watch. The Neros Eve Ball-Orgy with the Beastie Boys is a great ad. It was hard to stay up for 120 as a kid but great when it happened.

Actually, it was just MTVs big 30 and they did nothing for it. Reason given: Our viewers don't care about who we were.

Was that where Thurston interviewed Beck and Beck answered all of his questions just by doing different actions? Like he had a phone and he would throw the phone instead of saying an answer?

120 Minutes Bonus: Big Boi, The Kills and Beady Eye

This Saturday night at 1am EST/10pm PST the second episode of MTV2′s 120 Minutes with Matt Pinfield airs — and we’ve gotten our hands on a few choice bonus clips that are ripe for sharing. Watch below as Matt Pinfield discusses indie rock and hip-hop with Big Boi, the Kills‘ Jamie Hince explains how to shoot fire out of his 1962 Dennis fire engine, and Beady Eye‘s Liam Gallagher participates in a little word association.

I just wish VH1 classic would bring back its version of 120 Minutes at a non-4 am time.

    That's what DVR's are for.

Yeah, but it's not something I'd actually waste DVR space on. I loved it when it was on Sunday evenings a few years back. Perfect thing to have on while winding down, or doing a bunch of little stuff to get ready for the week.

Dave Kendell came to a radio fest here once to shoot the show, and walked around in the 100 degree heat in a black leather jacket acting like a douchebag. We were so excited!

So, it's my understanding that the MTV2 version will actually be showing new music, as opposed to the VH1 Classic version which was just a way to brand a bunch of old Cure and Depeche videos.

Yes it was. Beck would answer with a slew of different sound effect gadgets.
