    Default Peter Murphy 2012

We've had Bauhaus, we've had Love & Rockets, now its time for Perter solo. Peter in a tent at sunset? That has perfect written all over it. I think it's time for Peter to come back to the Polo grounds.

I am all for this. I've seen Bauhaus. I've seen Love and Rockets, i had tickets to see Peter Murphy three times and all 3 times I had to work.

Fuck yes to Peter Murphy. Saw him about a month ago and it was a great show.

And he does alot of cool covers/Bauhaus tracks live. Here's a setlist from 2010, they've been more/less similar to this:

    1) Intro
    2) Low Room
    3) Raw Power (Stooges cover)
    4) Velocity Bird
    5) Cuts You Up
    6) Subway
    7) Silent Hedges (Bauhaus cover)
    8) All We Ever Wanted Was Everything (Bauhaus cover)
    9) A Strange Kind Of Love (with Bela Lugosi's Dead snippets)
    10) The Prince And Old Lady Shade
    11) Deep Ocean Vast Sea
    12) Stigmata Martyr (Bauhaus cover)
    13) Dark Entries (Bauhaus cover)
    14) Uneven and Brittle
    ---
    15) Third Uncle (Brian Eno cover)
    16) Burning From The Inside (Bauhaus cover)
    17) She's In Parties (Bauhaus cover)
    ---
    18) Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie cover)
    19) Space Oddity (David Bowie cover)
    ---
    20) Transmission (Joy Division cover)
    21) Telegram Sam (T. Rex/Bauhaus cover)
    22) Hurt (Nine Inch Nails cover)

A Murphy set would be less than half of that list.

Probably, but its still an awesome selection of tracks he does perform.

Did anyone see his big US tour this spring? I was talking to the band afterward, the drummer told me how "improvised" the preliminary setlist is. Like, when I saw them, Peter just after one of the songs in the set "you know what guys let's just do something different". He told his guitarist to just start playing something, so he just did an impromptu performance of David Bowie's "Jean Jeanie". Pretty awesome.

Peter Murphy (and more classic post-punk/goth rock/darkwave) for 2012!

I was on the guest list for the Ventura Theatre show but had to work.
My Coachella buddy works at the venue told me he(Peter) was just hanging around out in front of the theatre and chatting up people as they walked by. What a down to earth kind of fellow.

He really is, he chatted with the audience quite a bit at both the Santa Ana and LA shows this year. He even recognized me the second night and complimented me for being so into the show. He reached out and held my hand during "Strange Kind of Love" at the Santa Ana show which happened to be on my birthday. I have the bauhaus symbol tattooed on my leg and Peter means so much to me, i honestly couldn't have asked for more. He deserves to play again.

My favorite Peter Murphy quote was telling this adult gothic guy who was hecking that he had ugly makeup on and the whole room filled with laughter. It must of felt like high school all over again for that guy.

I've had similar luck. He played Austin the week before I moved there. So I moved there and it was all everyone talked about. He played again two weeks after I moved (years later). Then he played a show there during SXSW last year and I had conflicts (the other shows were free).

and my favorite songs: Cuts you Up, Subway, and I'll Fall with Your Knife

As much as I dig Bauhaus and some of Peter's solo albums, by the time his set started there would be way more interesting things to see on other stages.
