Yes, but opted out of seeing Shpongle in favor of something else. My knowledge of this musical entity is limited to a few albums I downloaded back in 08, albums I have only poked at intermittently since. I know virtually nothing. I do, however, love to dance and party, so . . .

Shpongletron is a dj set with a stage/light setup. It could be fun! Won't be anything like this live set.

I loved Shpongletron - I almost feel like I liked it more than I'm going to like the Shpongle live show.

the Shpongletron is great, but its still just Simon and his hat. The Coachella set exceeded the second time I caught it this year, but I credit that to it being much longer the second time around. Not always a good thing when an artist is just trying to stretch his hits out..... The only thing I can really compare the live set to is Cirque de Soleil on DMT. Not to mention, the set up and structure of it represents that of some larger Pink Floyd type theatrics. I feel truly honored to be a part of this first west coast appearance.

Obligatory voice of cynicism: Shpongletron is nothing special. Abysmal mixing, uninspired psy-trance track selection, pretty flashing lights. It's only "okay" to dance and party to. ONLY OKAY.

I just accidentally purchased Mezzanine tickets for the Oakland Shpongle show. Thought I was getting GA floor tickets.

Does anyone know about the Mezzanine? Is it as good as the floor, or are you actually sitting in your seat?

The mezzanine level is seated, I mean, you CAN stand but it would mostly depend on whether the people around you are also standing, or if they're sitting and yelling at you to sit down. You can't loiter in the aisles, either.


For Ghost Ship, I think we'll be okay, but I'm very in favor of just taking a cab from the Fox.

Well, our thought was that we'd take BART back to Sf and either catch the event shuttles (from Civic Center) or a cab... I'd want to know how often the shuttles are running. The event was kind of expensive, and we're already going to miss half of it due to going to Shpongle. So, I'd rather split a really expensive cab 3-4 ways (I'm thinking it would end up being like $10-15 each?) than miss over an hour of it dicking around with BART and shuttles. Taking a cab from SF is not going to be that much less expensive than just taking a cab from Oakland.

I'm not really sure how much the cab would cost... I've taken a cab from Emeryville to Civic Center, once, during rush hour and it was like $80. I have to imagine that a cab from Oakland to TI late at night couldn't be more than like $50? I was assuming maybe $30-40?
