Yeah true, while they sweep the EDL connection under the rug.

    Right.

I'd heard EDL had attacked a mosque in "retaliation" when the story first broke, but haven't seen anything more about it since. I don't think they're the type to really appreciate the irony either way though.

Late to the discussion, but I think the major difference here is that this is one incidence, while muslim extremist bombings have become something of a pattern. Not fair to blame all of Islam, but I think its fair to say that Islam has an internal problem with radicalism much like Catholicism has an internal problem with child molesters. Right-wing mass murders do happen, but they're comparatively rare and don't appear to constitute a pattern.

Agreed, but the toxic venom in the atmosphere from the right that lead to the atrocities is widespread here in America.

The toll from the island has been revised down to 68, but some people are still unaccounted for.

Too bad Columbia doesn't have a similar provision.

Norwegian media have also reported that Breivik may have filmed parts of the massacre himself. Hjort Kraby said Sunday that a video camera had been discussed during the hearing on Utoya, but declined to elaborate
I might be a sick person because I really hope his video he recorded some how leaks on the internet.

It's a good thing. Since they've concluded he's insane, rather than a criminal, he'll go into the mental health system instead, which can hold him indefinitely.

Was he found legally insane or merely incompetent to stand trial? Or some other alternative used in the Norwegian legal system?

This is a really interesting approach. I think it'd be sort of fascinating to become this guy's chess buddy in a professional capacity, but it'd be such a completely devastating reality to face if you were to find yourself actually liking him.

It's brilliant and a sign of an advanced society. Above the cruelty aspect it also affords opportunity to study the guy.

For those who cry foul and want vengeance, it's also a good move. Keep him as sane and calm as possible. Although there's probably little chance of anything but an insanity verdict.

It's enough for me to know that I irked you and then perplexed you.

But seriously I don't think it'd be that devastating to learn that you might get along with this guy. The guy has a severe wiring problem in his brain and is clearly a sociopath, but the brain is incredibly complex and he might be somewhat genial in some settings.
