What is The Weezer Cruise?

Weezer fans, we are proud to announce a weezer experience like no other in the history of the band - the Weezer Cruise!

The Weezer Cruise is sailing on the Carnival cruise ship Destiny porting from Miami to the island of Cozumel off of the Gulf Coast of Mexico, on January 19 – 23, 2012.

Coming along with us are special guests Dinosaur Jr, as well as Sebadoh, Gene Ween and Dave Dreiwitz, Wavves, The Antlers, Yuck, Free Energy, Boom Bip, J Mascis (solo acoustic), Lou Barlow, Keepaway, Ozma, The Nervous Wreckords, The Knocks, Sleeper Agent and Yacht Rock Revue.

That’s right – Weezer is hitting the open seas. It’s going to be our own floating music festival on a cruise ship. Bands will perform on the outdoor Lido deck and in the inside theater. All of the bands will be performing in stages around the ship, festival style, so you can catch any or all of them during the entire trip to Cozumel and back.

And there is more! The “Destiny” is a fully functioning cruise ship and floating resort that features gourmet dining, 24-hour room service (free of charge whenever you want!), pools, hot tubs, a full-service casino, waterslide, world-class spa services and more.

We’ve got more activities and events in the works. You will also get to take a photo with the band and be a part of an exclusive Q&A on the Lido deck.

Prices start at $799 per person for double cabins, or pile in four people for just $599 per person plus $179 for taxes and port fees. Only $199 per person secures your spot onboard and with a payment plan available.

Well. The thing is, I think they have these cruises mixed in with regular cruises. Because there's not enough fans of whatever kind of music is the theme that can afford to go on a cruise to fill up the whole boat. So half the boat is filled with normal tourists who just don't have access to the concerts. As much as I like the idea of a bunch of shitty Midwestern tourists and Floridans being stuck on a boat full of juggalos, it's not likely to happen.

All passengers will get to see two weezer shows (one indoor & one outdoor on the Lido Deck). Passengers will only get to see 1 of the 2 indoor theatre shows, as the Palladium theatre can only hold 1,400 guests (half the ship). Get ready for a special intimate show! Both indoor theatre shows will be simulcast in various areas throughout the ship for everyone to see. You will choose which show you prefer and seating area at the time of booking.

So the biggest theater holds 1,400 and the ship holds 2,700. How many are anticipated to buy the weezer part of the cruise?

I know barenaked ladies, new kids on the block and backstreet boys have done these cruises but not too sure on others. I think the may have been a "rock star alumni" version.
