Cara, when Erika was in her leg brace recovering from a torn ACL, we were allowed to sit in the wheelchair area ringing the pit.
Due to an unfortunate work seminar, I will be arriving late(ish) as well
Actually, my favorite area at the Greek is the the two steps next to the path between the thrones and seated area. These spots are great, so long as you are standing on the top step. This allows you to be head and shoulders above the crowd and still below the sight lines of those behind you.

Those are exactly the seats that I didn't like at all. IF you aren't standing on the top step, you (well, *I*) can't see shit, and there were constantly people walking by or stopping and trying to crowd in. I still couldn't see from the lower step. Sucks being short. :P
Is this place anything like the hollywood bowl as in, are you allowed to bring booze in? How much are hard liquor drinks if they even sell them?
You're not "allowed" to bring anything in but security checks are superficial (if they happen at all). I've had no problem bringing flasks. They do not sell hard liquor IIRC - wine, soju & beer.
Good to know. Thanks!
I know nothing about this venue but I do know I would like to be standing somewhere with a decent view and the ability to dance/sway.

Oh ok, i'm sure i'll see you guys then.
Coming in from Fresno; probably get into the area around 7:00. Should I just park in Dublin and BART in? Only saw one other show there before, got in early and parking wasn't too bad- but it wasn't easy either.
July 21- Soundgarden- Bill Graham Civic Auditorium
July 30- Rage Against the Machine/Muse- LA Coliseum
Oct 21- Portishead- Berkeley Greek
Nov 18- Pixies- Fox Theater Bakersfield
For a sold out show, I'd lean toward BART. Since, I'm likely a late arrival as well, I also welcome suggestions.

I've only driven there when arriving late once, it was not fun. I ended up giving up and parking quite far away down Shattuck and paying for parking.
Caleb, I don't have your number anymore so if you see Mark and me, say hi![]()
parking on weekends is not fun in that area. but your best bet is to patrol up and down durant et al... with the dorms and the frat houses there tends to be lots of coming and going.
the ideal situation is to arrive a little before 6 when the parking meters are still in action (especially the coin operated ones, there are always vacancies)... then grab a bite to eat and head to the venue.

I want to know who is REBEL RAVING with me after Portishead on Friday!
Yes, as long as it doesn't sell out. It doesn't seem like it's going to, but who knows.
It won't. I wouldn't worry.

I can't recall going to anything at PW that has sold out, actually.
Are people looking for something to do afterwards in the City? I'm contemplating going to the Four Tet show at Harriet 103. Also, there's some good DJs spinning at Shine from 10-4. A friend of a friend is the host, DJ Toma, and DJ Smoove will also be there (who is great). It's only $5 all night. More info about that here.
Pretty sure its going to be an early night for me since I have ROBYN @ The Bowl the next night![]()

Yup, it's easy to get there from BART - you'll get off at the downtown Berkeley station and basically just cut through the campus. As long as you walk more or less straight through campus, you will end up on Gayley. If you're worried about getting turned around when going through campus, you could always take a slightly longer route and take either Hearst or Bancroft (off of Center) up to Gayley. If you take Bancroft, you walk past Top Dog on the way.
When you get closer to the theater, it's pretty easy to follow the crowd - same with finding your way back to BART.
Edit: Oh, I see that you mean back to BART. We'll be going back to BART in order to get back to SF, yep.
