Got our tickets for the second show. So excited. I was just crushed when I didn't get to see them at Coachella. Enjoy the warm-up show on the 18th, suckaaaas.

I think the second show will be better than the first.

Why is that? Do you also think the second weekend of Coachella will be better than the first? I think they will be pretty much exactly the same.

ATP will be better than both.

Because when a band is playing back to back nights, the first night its typically similar to the standard set that's played at other stops on the tour and the second night is where a band will switch it up from the first night. Therefore youre more likely to hear a rare or surprise song and at least a changed up setlist. I think there could be some better energy as the band will have rested in an actual hotel overnight instead of on a moving bus on the way to the next destination. This has been the case a few times already with acts like tool and massive attack when they have done multiple shows in la. I think its safe to assume portishead will be doing something similar.

And trying to compare this to two chella? Long answer yes with a but, short answer no with a maybe.

Portishead rarely changes their setlists. I'm sure they won't be exactly the same, but it's not like they have a huge catalog of songs to go with. We'll know with the two NY dates before LA.

They also will have had 3 days rest from their previous concert so I doubt they will have been plane the day before (or day of).

Yeah, from the Goldenvoice/KCRW presale. I missed the original presale tix by a few hours.

Respectable response good sir, I guess we will see how it goes. Are you going to end up at both? I know you already got tickets for night one, but your statements are leading me to believe you would rather be at night 2.

Dualchella will be as good or as bad as you want. IF a person did the exact same schedule both weekends, then you can bring an objective opinion to the table. But WILL somebody do that? Thats the big question.

Which ATP? You mean the one this weekend, or in Sept?

Not sure what qualified as a burn here, I'm obviously talking about the ATP show I'm going to which is in my sig. And your Coachella questions don't relate to the situation I'm talking about at all. My point was if you could only do one Portishead show or one Coachella weekend would the second one be better in both scenarios.

The 2 sets at Alexandra Palace last weekend were almost identical.

Everyone in Portishead are ocd perfectionists who have a reputation of unchanging setlists. I would be shocked if we saw a difference of more than 1 or 2 songs.

My ticket came in the mail this weekend.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

Yes. What were the differences? Setlist.fm only has the setlist for one of the nights.

Nylon Smile and Chase the Tear replaced with Hunter on Sat. They did try and do Chase the Tear on Sunday too, but had trouble with the drum loops. After about 6 false starts they gave up and moved on.

The transition from an acoustic Wandering Star straight into Machine Gun was quite a contrast.

From my past experience with them, you'll get them at about the beginning of October. I wouldn't worry about it.
