No, it's a failure. I'm sure you could have done something better, Zach. Just remember that you probably contributed to a lot of the faults that she exhibited. You should take this time to learn how to be better and bring out the best in others.

You're taking this breakup real hard, Tommy.

Thanks Tommy. Good talks. I know I fucked up. Nothing I can do about it anymore. Ultimately I did what was best for me, to make me happy. Unfortunately that did not include her.

The wrongful pick of Mountain Goats songs, however, I have no excuse for and take full responsibility.

    Forget this Mountain Goats one.
Can we just turn this into the "post Mountain Goats songs that rule" thread?

    There´s nothing you can do
    But let time tick
Stay positive and show stiff lip
    Nothing you can do
    But let time tick away

I need twice as much space
    And half as many things
A well written verse that I can sing
    Twice as much space
And a new set of strings

Yeah, totally. The first thing I think to do each time I listen to it is to pick up my cell phone and yell "No, Damon!! I CAN CHANGE!!" but it never works.

I never said I would stay to the end
I knew I would leave you with babies and everything
Screaming like this in the hole of sincerity
Screaming me over and over and over
    I leave you with photographs
    Pictures of trickery
    Stains on the carpet and
    Stains on the memory
Songs about happiness murmured in dreams
When we both of us knew
    How the end always is

The entire album (Disintegration) is a good break-up soundtrack. I put up Pictures of You on the first page - that one hits the spot for me.

I admit that I cried when I saw Stars right after Set Yourself On Fire came out and they opened with that song. :-\

I know I'm probably going to get some shit for 2 of these selections but fuck all y'all:

    Cat Power - "Good Woman"

James Blunt - "Goodbye My Lover"

    Coldplay - "The Scientist"

Beck - "Guess I'm Doing Fine" (or really anything off Sea Change)

And from the Eternal Sunshine soundtrack, Beck - "Guess I'm Doing Fine"

Can't go wrong with Cat Power ("Metal Heart" old school version is a personal favorite) or Sea Change in this context.

Just post your favorite break up songs, and maybe we can into some stories to really make us remember old heartbreaks and hate ourselves all over again.
Since I was the shithead in my first significant relationship, there wasn't a lot of wallowing. I broke his heart and moved on, learning not long after, that I probably had made the biggest mistake in my life, but had also done him a huge favor...

Ahh, my "WTF, I can't believe this is happening to me, so I think I'll drive myself fucking nuts making it worse than it has to be," breakup song. It was my go to Karaoke song for almost a year because we still hung out at the same local club, but not together, and I always felt justified singing it at the top of my lungs when he was there, trying to prove I was over it...helloooo...

Another Daft Punk album, great guys, so glad you spent years making this:

Now would you please shut the fuck up with this boring crap and get back to mixing these tracks in with the rest of your catalog into something actually interesting, build a goddamn LED spaceship and get the fuck back on the road.

I'm not even sure this is about a break up. Regardless, it's hit me hard after parting ways.

Just remember tomorrow is a new day.
