I'm still trying to decide which weekend I should go to. To help me decide, I was wondering which weekend everyone else going to and why?

I bought tickets for both weeks~ I will tell from that and the boards, week one is the hardest and takes the longest to get tickets for.. Dont know why.. Took 2.5 hours to get week 1 and 15 min. to get week 2 and I was on at 10:00..
Most people are probably trying to get week 1 tickets because realistically, how many of those bands coming from other countries are gonna be able to stay two weeks in the valley?
That means GV will have to accommodate 150+ bands as far as places to stay and so on and how are they really gonna be able to shell out that money and on top of that, paying the bands for two performances. I really don't think all the bands on the lineup are gonna play both weekends.
If they do, great. But I don't see it happening.
I got tickets for Weekend 1, I'm betting on more artists being into it the first weekend than the second weekend. Also until they actually get approval from the city (don't see why they wouldn't), Weekend 2 is still hypothetical.
Do you really think GV would promise us the same lineup twice and not deliver though? I'm not too worried about the lineup being changed up, mostly just how crowded it would be. I'm sure by the time of the festival both weeks will sell out, but as for now it sounds like most people want to go first weekend. I have always wanted to spend my 4/20 in the Polo Field though....
It's a week between shows, not two weeks. There's no reason they'd be hanging around for the full week before they play the first weekend or after the second. Maybe a day before to sound check. So like 8 days.
And you're crazy. And why the hell would any band stay in the valley all week? It's like a 2 hour drive to LA. 2 1/2 down to San Diego. I mean, even if accommodations weren't tight, why would a band (especially from out of the country) WANT to stay there instead of going and seeing the sights and partying in LA for 5 or 6 days in between shows?
the idea of weekend 2 still being hypothetical is the most retarded thing i've heard about this 2-weekend fest so far... "oh shit, sorry guys, we sold you tix to an event w/o actually having permission yet." you dolt...
my initial idea was to try for weekend 2 to let the bands & organizers figure their shit out. and as infantile as it may be, 4/20 at Coachella is gonna be, well, admittedly, maybe not so memorable, but still fun. but then i thought it would be better to go to whichever was less crowded. now it seems most people are going for weekend 1, anyway... then, weekend 2 just happened to be the first one available from the 2 "waiting rooms" i was in, so at this point i'm accepting weekend 2 as Fate.

every day, every year
Weekend 1.
Reasons:
1. If bands are gonna drop, it's more likely to be weekend 2
2. I don't want to have any surprise guests/new stage setups ruined the week before weekend 2 begins
3. Fresh grass
4. Weekend 2 is Imposterchella.
weekend 1.
seems "more authentic", greener grass, possibly less hot, and works better with my friends' schedules.
Do you assholes seriously think bands are going to drop out after Weekend 1?
If that happened, they would be replaced, probably by something even better.

Yup, because the bands that drop are always replaced by something better....The notion that they have things to "figure out" so week 2 will run smoother is rediculous, it ran very smoothly this year so what will they have to "work out"?
Week 1 will be be better because the only time leftovers are better than the first time is chinese food.
Although I completely think Week 1 is by far the better choice (and the choice I made), I do think that SOME (not all) artists will see Week 2 as a challenge as to "who can close out Coachella the best". If anything, I think the "epic guest appearances" (I feel skeevy even mentioning this since every year it gets thrown out there and last year barely anybody showed up but KoRn, Pusha T and Paul McCartney dancing to Afrojack) will show up Week 2, not Week 1. Also, there is a chance that some acts will see Week 1 as a warmup (probably mostly reunion acts).
A neutral thing is that I feel some acts will choose to be more experimental Week 1. For example, if last year's Coachella was a similar set-up I could see somebody like A-Trak dropping a hip-hop set the first week, or an artist taking a wildly experimental take on a song that will either be a hit or fall flat. Some people would dig this, some wouldn't.
That being said, Week 1 will have more enthusiasm and energy from the acts, cleaner fields and will feel brand new. Not to mention the fact that most of the bandwagon fans will be there Week 2 AND you get to skip 420 douchebaggery? The choice should be simple.
You think a last minute drop is going to get some amazing replacement? If it happens between week 1 and 2, they'll have literally 4-5 days to get a replacement. I think a "better" replacement is wishful thinking and the absolute best-case scenario, but it's not exactly realistic.
TWO COACHELLAS...SAY WHA?
and im going weekend two cause im totally apart of this bandwagon you speak of.
420 weekend. WOOOP
I think a last minute drop isn't going to happen because they'll be under contract. These bands KNOW about this in advance. It's not like it'll be, "oh shit we have to play in fucking Kansas next week, sorry GOldenvoice!!! xoxo roflcopter lulzberriez"
Goldenvoice will know about this shit in advance and plan accordingly. So all of you please shut the fuck up.
Neither weekend will be substantially better than the other.

I seriously think that playing both weekends will have to be a part of every band's contract. I feel as though Coachella has earned itself enough reputation to make requests like these. A "Don't like it? Next band." attitude to their lineup selection process.
no sloppy seconds - weekend 1 all the way.
08 - 09 - 10 - 11 - 12.1 - 13.1
(WEEKEND 1 - NO sloppy seconds!!!)
I already bought week 1 tickets on the payment plan, I never been to the coachella fest but I'm a local, should I buy weekend 2 tickets also? Ive been to concerts before, and I know the general idea when a certain band is playing 2 nights on the same weekend, the second night is always better as they are more prepared and usually go all out or play some of their rarer songs, which may or may not be the case for weekend two at coachella. Would this be too much coachella for a newbie, or would it be a good learning experience? Thanks to anyone who cares, lol.
The important things to know about weekend two:
- It will more than likely be hotter than Hades.
- You wanted beautiful, lush Polo field grass? Sorry, all gone.
- IMHO, the masses will mostly be dude-bros/college co-eds who are done with finals and dumb ass kids that are super excited because OMG SO SYKED IT'S *~~*420*~~* LULULZZZZZ
With that said, if I have the cash when time comes, I'll be buying the second weekend as well. Just know what's in store for you, as I imagine the second weekend of 'chella will be wicked intense. If you have the means and serotonin levels, go for it!

Weekend 2 will be far less clusterfucked and despite the improvements over 2010 it was still pretty crowded last year. I can deal with a few dropped bands or whatever in exchange for room to breath and the ability to get within a mile of the main stage.
