So it looks like they announced the initial 2011 lineup on 6/1 last year. Hopefully we get something soon.

Sweet deal. There was a payment plan option last year for tickets, right?

Yes there was but I didn't use. It was a great time!
Hoping that we get a few bands announced tomorrow with the dates.
C'mon man. I keep seeing people begging for Pretty Lights/Justice/Deadmau5/Skrillex......I hope Ashley Capps never caves to this sort of bullshit.
Well he already does at Bonnaroo.
Moog operates under different expectations, or at least has in the past.
Announcement:
Huh.Save the dates: Friday, October 26 & Saturday October 27. The festival will be a little different this year. Change is good! Full line-up will be announced mid-July.

So far not looking good, it's only 2 days and they mention they are changing something. I am hoping the drop of 1 day is the only change. Plus waiting until mid July for the line up is insane.
I hope they don't move it from multiple venues to a "Bonnaroo / Coachella esque" multiple stage outdoor setting or something like that or try to put everything in Civic Center and the Thomas Wolfe auditorium.
Whatever they are changing I can't imagine it will be good.

Hmm. Well that's a bit discouraging.
When it was in the multi-venue format, how hard was it to hop around to different sets?

I think the problem was is that on the outdoor stage it was pretty cold and I think some people had trouble. The same with going to far away venues. The Orange Peel is pretty far from Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. I hope they don't change it too much.
Well this is somewhat annoying for people traveling from out of state:
Those of you angling for three days of great music in Asheville might want to plan on arriving early that Thursday. Something special in the works for Thursday night that will be of great interest to some of you moogers. Announcement Monday. And stay tuned, we'll be sharing more Moogfest info about this year's event even before the line up announcement!

This is from the newsletter
"Also, be sure to pay attention on Monday, June 25 for a special, separately ticketed concert announcement, which, as a Moogfest fan, we know you'll be thrilled about. We'll have a presale opportunity available for our newsletter subscribers!"
This makes it sound bigger than the small kickoff events that they have had over the past two years.
If it's ELP, Kraftwerk and Bowie. I'll forgive them!![]()
Frank - you going?
Don't be a negative nancy about all of it. It's been a well orchestrated festival thus far and I can't imagine it going down hill....so soon. I'm excited and will take advantage of the early-bird discount whenever it's available.
Also, It's really not that difficult to get between venues EXCEPT for the Orange Peel. Asheville is such a nice town that it's a pleasure to hike through it.
I'll probably go. I don't mean to be so negative. It's been a stressful month. I'll keep positive!
I have to say, that it was one of the best festivals I've ever been to!!!
There has been so much great electronic music this year. I'm really excited to see who they book. My only prediction so far is squarepusher.
My friend's dad lives in Atlanta, GA, so our plan is to fly out there and spend Thursday evening with him, then drive out to Ashville on Friday morning. Though I suspect that if I missed a David Bowie set I would be skinned alive by the Coachella board.

Well I guess the one positive thing about the lineup coming out next month is we will get the complete lineup at once as opposed to the previous years when it came out in stages.
I'd recommend arriving sometime Thursday. I'll be headed up from Atlanta if anyone wants to pitch on gas. Also, room sharing is always nice..
I am definitely down for room sharing!

I loved Asheville, I was talking to this guy who lived in Ashveille years ago and told me he recently moved back and couldn't believe all of the activity. He told me the only place that stayed from the old days was the shoe store and he added, "And they make a fine shoe!".
My friend was just visiting Asheville and fell in love and wants to move there, which is primarily what has prompted us deciding to go to this festival![]()
