I'm trying my hardest not to go to this.

Went the past three years, had a great time... but another $1k in airfare and $500 in hotel rooms does not befit me.

But I love Soundgarden, so it's an uphill battle. I recommend anyone considering this book your Marriott rooms before they fill up - it's $149/night for the Marriott on Canal with the Voodoo code. Great location right off Bourbon Street, but expensive valet parking.

if i wasn't already seeing soundgarden this summer i'd try and make this work but there needs to be a pretty solid lineup for me to consider this. the timing of this festival severely fucks with my school.

    November 18 - Slayer
    November 19 - eyehategod
    December 4 - Behemoth
    January 30 - Behemoth
    February 3 - Zola Jesus
    February 6 - Sleep

I get tickets regardless, but I'm with the rest of you on waiting for the rest of the line up before getting too excited. I'm also much more distracted from voodoo this year due to ATP. I can say that last year brought the most improvements I've ever seen them make. It was really well set up for a new orleans festival.

Did I just read you offering all the boardies your brother's house? That's very generous.

The bathroom situation was far better than previous years, but the dance tent is gonna result in a drowning if they keep it right next to the lake. During Deadmau5 there were hundreds of hipsters on the precipice of the skanky water for an hour.

Plus... STILL NO SODA SALES!?!?!? Hate hate hate.

On the plus side, we won four VIP passes day one and two, and it wasn't even hard to do. Every year I've been at Voodoo I've won VIP passes for one of the days.. and the VIP pit makes it totally worth the trouble. I love Voodoo, I just hate the expensive airfare.

As I said "for a New Orleans Festival". Right now I do prefer Voodoo's ticket sales process...

I'd love to go, had a great time last year and have been wanting to go back to NOLA ever since (that was my first time there), but not certain if I can afford it. its within driving distance so I don't have to worry about airfare, but the hotel costs got expensive last year, and I'm already doing ACL this year.

So it'll probably be line-up dependent. I'm hoping for a good electronic line-up. And theres a few specific names I'm hopeful for that'd definitely get me out there.

Been a lurker for years on this forum, finally decided to post!!!!!

Went to my first voodoo festival in 2001, and try to make back each year. This festival seems to keep getting better each year, even if you donít like the line-up there is so much to see at the festival, and the city itself.

I already have my tickets printed out and Hotel booked. Can not wait till the rest of the line-up is announced!!!!!

Yeah, we're a little behind the LA scene here, but at least we're trying. I expect Lil B at Voodoo by 2013 or so. I go to Coachella for my new music, Voodoo for the party.

Hahaha well said Kory. So, you got your ticket I assume? I'm just not sure if I'll go... I really want to see Soundgarden at a non fest show and if I have extra $ I'd spend it that I think.

They bumped the price by $25 on the strength of four bands/DJs? That's weird. It's not like folks are killing each other to get to any of these shows.

Two more adds over the past couple of days - Dallas Green, and the Legendary Soul Rebels Brass Band.

Don’t know of either one of these groups, hope they start naming some good bands soon!!

If you are staying in the French Quarter, you'll see plenty of the city in the morning before the festival and at the aftershows. If you get in on Thursday and leave Monday, You'll have plenty of time. The transportation to and from the festival is very fast and convienent. The shows don't really get good until after 3pm and the music in the city goes on all night after Voodoo.

Totally unpredictable. It has been as low as 40 in the morning and up in the 90's during the day. We've had cold fronts pass through during the shows. You won't know what clothes to pack until a day or two before you leave.

Like Koryp said, you should have plenty of time to see the city and explore, but the one thing you need to remember is to PACE yourself. The Bars don’t close and next thing you know the sun is coming up!!!!!
