I hope you weren't trying to compare their music with this statement. I just listened to the Julianna Barwick album, and she sounds NOTHING like Susanne Sundfor. Maybe you were just saying your feelings about them are the same, but they really aren't comparable artists. Can you clarify this statement for me, please?

Also, I didn't really like the Julianna Barwick album at all.

I like her, and I can't really even pinpoint why. I saw her in Santa Fe back in April and she's endearingly awkward. She sounded good once she relaxed. She's young, so I think she has time to become more comfortable with performing live.

And I'm with you as far as James Blake goes. But, of course, in a less dramatic way.

I realized that when I posted my LP list that I included everything I had listened to more than once, and it wasn't necessarily everything I liked enough to put on a list. This is in order as well.

I don't know if nobody else liked All Eternals Deck or it just didn't make enough of an impression to be discussed or what but I'm relistening now and confirming significant enjoyment. Good album for a drizzly spring-summer transition.

I know I can tend to be hyperbolic about things around here from time to time, so I apologize in advance. But:

    Surgeon - Breaking the Frame

At this point, it's my album of the year. Listen for yourself.

    Followed by

    2. Kurt Vile – Smoke Ring For My Halo
    3. James Blake – James Blake
    4. Panda Bear - Tomboy
    5. Rene Hell – The Terminal Symphony
    6. Grouper – A|A: Alien Observer
    7. Woods – Sun and Shade
    8. This Will Destroy You – Tunnel Blanket
    9. Radiohead – The King of Limbs
    10. Cut Copy – Zonoscope
    8/06 - Herbie Hancock - Hollywood Bowl (?)
    8/07 - Haim - Wiltern (?)
    8/08 - Spoon - Hollywood Forever
    8/10 - Paul McCartney - Dodger Stadium
    8/12 - FKA Twigs - El Rey (?)

I could probably make a list of my favorite albums from like 2008 now, but I can never understand how people are so quick to judge music halfway through a year or at the end of a year. I'm still discovering music from 2009 that I didn't know about, or didn't like at the time but now have appreciation for. A lot of the stuff I like on first listen I will end up not liking, and vice versa.

Regarding Surgeon, it's good, but not that good. I gave it a few listens when it leaked and then I kinda forgot about it, which means it didn't leave an impression.

Yes. My same curiousity applies towards you. But, you can DL it here free from their website (and save on ratio, if you care).

No, my listened to list is a bit longer. I just haven't liked much this year, although we still have M83, Spank Rock, Wilco and a couple others coming down the pipe. Second half should be better than the first, I think.

Since it's almost halfway through 2011, I'll go half of a Top 10. My Top 5 (as if anyone gives a rip) in no particular order:

    Destroyer - Kaputt
    Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
    Handsome Furs - Sound Kapital
Mogwai - Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will
    Woods - Sun & Shade
