Nah, I did car camping. I have a gaggle of teenagers that insisted on the full immersion experience. My wife stayed at the Fantasy Springs hotel.

Please come up with solutions to any RV issues/problems, don't just ban the problem.


I have to wonder what the problems are with RV's. I wish Goldenvoice would try to remedy any problems with RV's and allow them. If it's a space issue, require the RV's to pay extra for the space to be used by each individual RV's size....Length and width and awning size by requiring them to have that many camping spots. With two weekends there should be plenty of room for a percentage of RV's each weekend and the extra space they take.

The camping industry has been skyrocketing since 911 and those of us that have the toys would love to be able to use them in the venue grounds for the complete onsite festival experience.

With duocoachella/twocoachella, I for one would love to take a leisure trip driving from Mpls. to So Cal in the motor home and stay in the area for both festival weekends. Before the first weekend, in between the festival weekends and after the 2nd weekend I could do other things I'd like to in the area while using the area campgrounds. It would be great for California tourism.


If anyone on the board has an ear of Paul or those associated with the decision making process I'd like to ask you, to ask them to try and reconsider their ban on RV's.

2011 was my 1st coachella. I camped. I'm hooked! I want that same experience again.
But, I'd rather do it in an RV!

The problem is there simply is not enough room for them. it's not that hard. the demand for car/tent camping is much higher.

EDIT: Also, your two-weekend division theory doesn't pan out because they're clearly expecting the same amount of people who usually show up to come both weekends.

OK, no room for extra camping spaces. But lets just say for discussion/input. I do actually have a motor home that is 27 feet long. It has no awning and no slide outs on it. It is of course less than 10 feet wide even with the door open.

So it fits inside my designated camping area of 10 x 30 without any doubt whatsoever.

I have to wonder why ban it if it fits. I can put a car and as many tents or canopies with or without sidewalls and build small villages out of multiple sites.

Great link, Thanks! But, camping inside the festival is a huge part of it. I found that out this year. . I love camping and being from Mpls and where the festival is I'd prefer to use the motorhome I have. It's a lot cheaper to drive with all my gear and not have to use hotels. I'm already thinking of driving it down but then I'm going to have to rent a car during the weekends to use inside the camping area while leaving the motorhome elsewhere. Yea, I could probably hook up with someone else to camp but I'm older than a lot of ya, frickin disabled and I snore louder than a bear.

Americans love camping and those that have camping toys would like to use them especially if they fit and in the space provided. This year was my first year and I camped in the ADA area provided. Awesome! I'd rather do it in my RV though.

Keep your thoughts coming as Friday is almost on us and I'd like to get my tickets presale and get em locked in.

Well, there's the Indian Wells RV park at Hwy111 and Jefferson. That's not 'real' close, but close enough to walk back from the venue (40 minute walk, 10 minute bike ride).That's where we stayed at this year and will stay again in 2012. All amenities you expect from a commercial RV park. They charge 75 a night + tax for a full hookup site. Cool mix of people (festival goers and residents...), and it's pretty quiet. When you reserve early you'll get a site that's large and has shady trees - latecomers have to make do with overflow.

Cheaper, but more primitive and farther away (forget about walking, it's 8 miles) alternative: Lake Cahuilla. A site with electricity will run you $107 for the whole Thurs-Mon weekend. Check the Lake Cahuilla thread for more info.
