Well... will they?
Well... will they?
I think so. Prior to the two day decision, everybody I know who went before was planning on returning, but I knew at least the same number of people who were finally committing to their first year. Guys, as much as this seems insane, the sellout that would have happened if they kept the same system would have been ridiculously fast.
I do think it will sellout slower, but I'm buying my ticket(s) on layaway just in case.
Indie is still on the rise in coolness. Have you not seen the JCPenney commercials.
Yes they will both sell out
Scalpers weren't a factor last time either.
Scalpers weren't a major reason in the festival selling out last year. Only about 1-2% of tickets were 'scalped' many of those were fans who intended to go and then decided to cash in.
Scalpers don't like paying $300 for Gen Admission with 70,000 tickets available. I have a client who is a scalper and he is making $1000 per ticket on front floors for Paul McCartney in Vegas. Trust me, scalpers like limited supply events.
I saw very few scalpers in person this year and the sites like stubhub/ebay/etc didn't have any more than 1000 for sale at any given time and it's not like people were buying them with regularity on these sites.
It seemed like every day during the ticket period this year someone brought up the potential scalper issue and every time it was debunked. Sure, there were scalpers that bought tickets, but it's not like they bought up the vast majority or even a large portion.
I highly doubt a lot of board members bought theirs from a reseller. I know I didn't, nor did the majority of the people I communicate with on here.
The scalper issue was just an excuse for lazy people who didn't pay attention.
I think Dani even came here when they were packaging up the passes and said she hadn't seen any more than two per order at that time. If scalpers were that prevalent, there would have been many orders of more than just 2 passes.
10/8 - Little Dragon @ Marquee (Tempe, AZ)
10/11 - Carolina Chocolate Drops @ Rialto Theater (Tucson, AZ)
11/10 - The Black Keys @ US Airways Center (Phoenix, AZ)
4/10/15 - 4/12/15 - Coachella
Fuck yeah. Don't wait around. They're ALL gonna be gone by Monday.
If a scalper bought 100 tickets for Coachella 2011, that would cost $30K.
To break even on Stubhub and ebay (which charge fee's) would have meant selling at $350 minimum per ticket.
I am sure many scalpers wish they had bought tickets to resell for 2011. Prices were high for resale because there were so few and thousands looking.
Did Tollett mention scalpers in recent interviews to hype sales since he has to move twice the ticket inventory or because he genuine scalping concerns?
Obviously they changed camping pass rules because of scalpers since those had low face value and high markup. 2010, 2011 and maybe 2009(can't remember)
