Count me in
a little concerned that the effect and cost of going both days will be too much
This will be my initial plan
I don't like that the artist are playing twice...one thing about Coachella is they get ONE SHOT to prove themselves and they go ALL OUT.
i most likely will
this will minimize conflicts for people, that's for damn sure
This may actually be the case for me. I could just drive down from Portland and do the first weekend with the first party group, spend the week visiting family/friends/new locales, do the second weekend with a different group then head home. I would be able to see bands I couldn't catch on the first due to conflicts or other bullshit or watch the great ones again. In that same vein I could avoid the shitty ones too.
This still sucks.
I just don't possibly understand how Goldenvoice expects anyone to be able to live with the fact that Coachella is going on yet they're not there because they went the weekend prior.
I guess I belong in this thread.
3/19 Kraftwerk @ WDCH
3/21 Boys Noize @ Lot 613
3/28 Madlib & Freddie Gibbs @ Echoplex
4/1 Kelela @ The Echo
4/9 The Knife @ Fox Pomona
4/15 Sam Smith @ Belasco
4/26 Simian Mobile Disco @ Pappy & Harriet's
5/8 La Sera @ The Echo
5/10 A Place To Bury Stangers @ Constellation Room
5/18 Tycho @ Fonda
6/7-9 Governors Ball
6/14-15 Low End Theory Festival
We can now end all set time conflicts on the board by saying "you should have just gone to both weekends".
Count me in. No way I miss any Coachella. I say 3 weekends for 2013!!!
COACHELLA- 99, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12 (wk 1 & 2), 13 (wk 1 &2)
Coachella 03, 04, 05, 06, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12.1, 12.2...
Having done two festivals in two consecutive weekends in the UK for a few years. I always find that by the Sunday of the second festival the mind and body are flagging-especially if you are camping.
I know one year I almost bailed on the second festival and then only lasted two days, bailing on the third day. It seems easy now, but driving there on the Thurs returning home on the Mon then going back to watch the same bands seems easy now but by mid-April will seem too much to many.
Yeah I am gonna try to do both. That will make up for not going this year.
I might do both but if I did I would only camp the first weekend and then drive back and forth the following weekend and it would ultimately depend on the lineup and if there are conflicts that cause me to miss anything in week 1. the problem is, how do you plan for that 9 months in advance when there isn't even a lineup?
week 1 = heck yes!
week 2 = I'd love to, but I just don't know...
I really don't understand the point of going both weekends.
You know you want to...
understand, that is.
Week 1 sober w/ comfortable settings, hotels, showers
Week 2 fried beyond all belief with $60 bucks in your pocket, 3 bottles of water and no place to stay
Then write a column on it.
it would have to be one hell of an awesome lineup but maybe if I had a ton of conflicts
hope none of the "multi-colored names and various font & bolding of all the bands I'm seeing" signature people are doing both
Me! My plan is to go to disneyland for a few days in between and just stay in so-cal.
I'll be in for both; no more conflicts or split-sets
Plus no-one said the set times will be the same, only attempting to keep the weekend lineup intact. They would likely keep the day by day lineups the same for postering purposes.
What's funny is that an act like Electirc Touch have have to play to 30 people like they did in 2011 at 7:30 in a tent, then sit around California for a week only to have the same thing happen again if they kept the skeds. Same goes for tents that are WAAAAY over crowded. Or poor timeslot/tents like Odd Future.
Looking at past set times, it would actually be pretty awesome to do some years twice. For 2011 for example I would've actually had a chance to see The Black Keys, Caifanes, Magnetic Man, One Day As A Lion, Wire, Animal Collective, Suede, Health, Sven Väth, Trentemøller and Duck Sauce among others. I just hope that this forced two weekend thing doesn't turn too many good artists away from next year.
1. No more set time conflicts
2. No more PCD
3. Coachella instead of Stagecoach (i always went both wknds anyway)
4. one weekend with boardies, one weekend with non-boardies
i would have given ANYTHING to repeat 08 or 09.. this year i could totally have done over again and had a COMPLETELY different experience.. i can only imagine what next year will bring..
Are you going to buy presale for both 3 day weekends? What's the advantage of buying if you're not doing layaway? Why are they selling so early?
What I REALLY want to do is show up to set up my car camp on Thurs April 12 and then leave Mon April 23. I'll be just fine the week between shows if I can bring in more beer.
I'm layaway buying 2 wristbands and a car camp and companion car park for Coachella 1.
