Bottle Rock, Napa Valley, May 9-12
Bjork, Craneway Pavillion. May 22nd
Philip Glass Koyaanisqatsi, Davies Symphony Hall May 26th
Weekend 2 should be named "The Deuce" in honor of '90s era ESPN.
Leaning towards it.
-Will know who was awesome/disappointing
-Setlists
-4/20
Won't watch any videos though, that would be revealing too much.
What's the logic that one weekend will be less crowded then the other?
4/20 at coachella? im in.
I really like the idea of going to the less crowded weekend
I also really like the idea of being able to check this board to find out who was a terrible disappointment and who was awesome and using that as an extra guide to pick between conflicts
but I know that sitting around at home during weekend one knowing coachella is happening may kill me
not 100% decided but I'm leaning weekend 2
seeing how i am a CPA... this is the obvious choice for me..

Because everyone seems determined to be the first to experience Coachella 2012, meaning people will understandably flock to the first weekend until that sells out.
And Weekend 2 could sell out. But just because they can comfortably sell out 75,000 tickets does not mean they can sell 150,000. Yes, there's a lot of insane people on this forum that intend on doing both weekends, but I strongly doubt that's indicative of people outside this forum. It's not even a viable option for those who travel from great distances.

Weekend #1 will sellout and #2 will take up the shortfall.
Media attention(guest spots) and surprise factor(both online and those attending both) and fans wanting crack at the "first" reunion type performances. Artists may also have higher adreneline for #1 shows.
I would think that #1 would be a hipper crowd and #2 be more brochella(ie: couldn't get tickets for #1)
The second weekend fits my schedule better.
#2 wil have those that missed out #1, did both and have flu/tired/sunburned/bored deja vu crowd reaction.
Who's a big headliner under 60 who can fill anywhere near that many tickets aside from possibly a rare Radiohead booking?
Having 150,000 tickets/$30m+ budget all on the shoulders of Stones/Bowie/Floyd(ie: old enough to receive pensioner checks) for a gig 9 months out is getting into Michael Jackson London O2 residency territory. AEG/GV hopefully learned their lesson when they had to eat $20mil(?) on that debacle.
U2 would be out of touring cycle and don't do one-offs. Plus they did 100k each at single SoCal venues in 2009 and 2011. Gaga/Madonna don't fit the festival too much and AFAIK Daft Punk have never sold anything bigger than an arena without a support major bill.
If it weren't for the trampled grass, I'd probably go to Weekend #2 because the assumed smaller crowd would be really nice. Having nice grass is a huge a pro, though...
