Yeahhhh.... I dunno about all that^. That "theory" is all over the map. I got a headache just reading it. No theories from me yet. I think I'd like to see at least one more video before having a guess at where we're headed. And perhaps things are just getting less structured and more abstract now.

I'm sad to say I'm finding my interest waning for the first time since I started following these kooky Scandinavians in early 2010. I think with these guys the videos aren't just nice visuals; they're an absolutely essential part of the iamamiwhoami experience. This recent series (while beautifully filmed) seem to be very self-referential. I hope the narrative gets a bit more interesting moving forward.

Same here. But mostly because at least with Kin, we knew they were coming every 2 weeks. I don't think this series is on any set schedule, and so far, has been kinda boring.
I'll still watch them and follow along, though.

Ehh.... I really am only sticking with this because it's not like they drop a song every week.
    Another beautifully shot borefest.

Yeah, the visuals, while beautifully shot, are nowhere near as intriguing as any of the prior projects. Shame. The men in black spandex suits look so stupid and feel completely wrong for the tone of the music. They seem to have lost their way as storytellers. I did quite like the song, though. Think it was stronger than the last one.

I really like the song(s) in the video, too. Esp the last 20 seconds

    Get a hotel room.

Also, stop forcing yourself to like this shit. It's painful watching you try to convince yourself that this is good music.

    Only if you come, too.

And I'll force myself to like whatever I want, thank you very much.

Anyways, I already said I haven't really liked THIS era of their music. All the stuff before this was all gold, though. The first 2 albums and that "live" thing they did. Great stuff.

God, I feel like something went wrong in this third audio-visual album, Hunter. The scenery is stunning, Jonna maintains a compelling on screen persona, but with the exception of a couple of tracks, the music feels so much more conventional and far less ambitious than that of the first two albums. And, the visuals don't even compare. Sure these beach side scenes are gorgeous, but I pine for the wonderfully complex, dark narratives based on obscure mythology from the first couple of series. Everything feels so self-referential now. And so wishy-washy. I miss the old iamamiwhoami.

    Same.
The only songs I've liked is this newest one, Chasing Kites, and Fountain. And I'm more impressed that they apparently have helicopters and large cranes for a lot of these lavish camera angles.
And it's only a vague narrative this go around.

3 more songs/videos to go between now and november 11th.
The final song on the album is going to be the studio version of this song they did from their "concert".

Man, that "concert" was amazing. I wanna get back to that level of weirdness and invention. Anyway. New(ish?) and rare interview with Jonna from Dazed and Confused in which we learn quite a lot about the project, including the fact that iamamiwhoami was never intended to be their official name:

    iamamiwhoami: force of nature

    Text Michael Cragg
    Photography Jamie Morgan
    Styling Emma Wyman

    The mysterious collective are
a pop cult like
no other. In her home city of Stockholm, frontwoman Jonna Lee explains how
she made her musical myths a reality

Welcome to the world of iamamiwhoami, a fantasy land where trees have limbs, semi-naked creatures writhe around in inky black goo and women lick semen off tree trunks. Swedish pop auteur Jonna Lee doesn’t just craft an odd and beautiful audiovisual world, but as the iamamiwhoami collective’s face, voice and driving force, has you venturing around a netherworld of the subverted familiar. In her DIY videos, you’ll find her dancing around in her underwear with what looks like a yeti, playing a piano wrapped in cellophane while sporting giant fake eyelashes and gyrating on a bed made of loo rolls. “I don’t even know what a traditional artist is,” she says. “But I know that everything we do has a purpose and a substance.”

We have been summoned to meet Lee in a surprisingly sweltering Stockholm, with the clear instruction to join her on a precise park bench overlooking a water feature that depicts Norse god Thor slaying the fanged sea serpent Jörmungandr, which seems loaded with significance. With her new album BLUE thematically saturated with water and including tracks such as “Fountain” and “Hunting for Pearls”, positioning us in a spot where a Nordic fountain bubbles away within peripheral vision seems deliberately orchestrated to provide the perfect setting to explore her latest inspirations. Then, a translucent figure in retina-burning all-white, seemingly unaffected by the clammy heat, arrives: “Hello,” she says. “Where shall we go?”

The album came out like 2 weeks ago. So all 10 songs are out, but they still have 3 (now 2) videos to release.
"Shadow Show" (the last song on the album, and the one she first did from InConcert on the keys in the field) is soooo good. Spotify it or something.

The physical releases include a picture book, but no DVD.
They also have Blue Island, which is their exclusive website where you can download all 3 albums so far in WAV files, and 1080p videos for the Blue clips, amongst other things (like unreleased songs that they will add more down the road).

Anyho, new video. Easily the worst track/video on the album.

Huh? What's with the Madonna article? Also, "Shadow Show" is on youtube, and it is pretty great.

Yeah, I heard that a while back. I want someone to make a video using the darkest iamamiwhoami imagery set to that song
