Dont forget to bring the glow, ok?

And he will still end up playing an hour set. The true test will be when he makes another album, and then incorporates both records into a live show.

I'll be swagging the fuck out on that barricade. What James really needs to do is find a way to play more of the old shit live and not just during DJ sets. If he was able to fuse both sides of music into one live show, faces would be fucking melted.

For example, imagine this song LIVE at the Fonda...

    8/2 & 3 HARD Summer
8/7 Jagwar Ma @ Santa Monica Pier
    8/15 Echo Park Rising
    8/21 Interpol @ Boulevard Pool
    8/23 & 24 FYF Fest
9/6 RP Boo @ Los Globos
9/24 Interpol @ House Of Blues
9/25 Simian Mobile Disco @ El Rey
9/26 Wu Tang @ The Forum
    9/27 Hercules & Love Affair @ Lot 613

Yeah, as much as I like his full-length, I'm definitely partial to the less vocal-centric EPs. Blips and samples of his voice as an instrument in itself are much more to my liking than the crooning he does throughout most of the album.

I know what you mean Chris, I think that's what draws me to his music so much though. The fact that there 2 almost completely different sides to his music, and both are just incredible.

sorry.. i just think "post-anything" is a lame term for any genre of music.

as far as this James character goes... im seeing a lot of attention being thrown his way but im having trouble understanding whats so incredible about it. Im not knocking him, just curious as to what all the hype is about.

    Thanks. Will check it out.

It will be interesting to see where they slot him for P4k Fest. It's going to be very difficult to see him in a festival setting after catching him tonite at GAMH. Other than their low stage, it was a (near)perfect setting for his material.

Just read your review Harry. Good as usual, although I don't really agree with you about the Antony comparison (JB isn't as much of a drama queen, imo) and I would equate his demeanor more as a young, polite Englishman (vs "timid"), but whatever.

Also, I'm glad you shed light on what happened with those two girls. We thought it was weed related this whole time. Did you actually witness the entire scene? If so, please elaborate.

yeah, the antony thing is kind of superficial... they both kind of trail off with their melodic lines and come back up 3/4s of the way through, but that and warble vibrato is all they really share in common.

fantastic show, and i'm happy we weren't close enough to those chicks for it to ruin much of the song.

dude had incredible command of the room for someone on their first tour.

Because I couldn't see anything going on on stage, I at first thought the screaming chicks was some sort of effect he was adding to the song. I really don't know what to say about someone that gets kicked out of a James Blake show, though the incident reminded me of how at a Junip show I was stuck behind this girl yapping about how she loves to get drunk and fight. So maybe causing a ruckus at slow-paced, gentle singer-songwriter acts is a thing.

It was a fantastic show, and there was certainly enough bass for me.
