This man deserves his own thread. He's onto something big and will go down as one of the important figures in electronic music. His entire catalog is just simply amazing and he's barely on his first US tour.

Anyone have extra tickets for either of his LA shows? PM me, pls.
I've been freaking out for too long Tessa.
This mans music takes me to places I never knew existed. I haven't been hit this hard by somebody's music since the first time I heard Interpol...
It's just literally changed my life. It's helped me through so much and I'm probably going to pass out on Monday...
Couldn't agree more. The Bells Sketch was an eye (ear) opener for me musically, and his album really redefined my conceptions of what music can be. Very much looking forward to the shows next week.
For those unaware, James Blake also puts out bootleg reworkings of hip hop, rap, and r&b tracks under the name Harmonimix. Some artists that he has reworked include Outkast, Snoop Dogg, Quasimoto, Lil Wayne, and Destiny's Child.

maybe one of you can answer my james blake question: why is he always associated with dubstep or "post-dubstep" (whatever tf that is)?
Much respect for this artist but apparently his shows on this tour are only 30 mns. At least that was the case with his Toronto show last Saturday. 30 freakin minutes! Can you imagine? I'd feel ripped off big time.
Maybe L.A. will get lucky and get longer sets.

Jesus, that show sounds terrible. The whole deal with the venue/line then to get stuck with a short performance. I have been looking for tickets for the Seattle show but I don't know... gonna try to find out if other cities got a real show because between his album and ep's there is no way he should play for only 30 minutes.
5/25-5/27: MOVEMENT DETROIT
6/6: The Field @ The Independent
6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel
He only has one album, right? What's his "entire catalog"?
Ron Paul 2012!
Upcoming Shows:
Four Tet
Coachella 4/20-4/22
Death Cab for Cutie/Magik Magik Orchestra
Radiohead
some other bands
He has released a number of EPs and done quite a few remixes.

One album, four extended players (if you count the 3-track single of "A Wilhelm Scream"), a single, and a handful of remixes. He just keeps releasing stuff and none of it has been bad. Some of it gets boring after a while but it's all worth listening to or at least checking out.
Also, is he or is he not doing that after show at Som bar this Sunday?
It's listed on the Som Bar website, so I'd go with "yes."

So then a half hour of him doing slow-burners is great. 'Cause then we'll all move over to Som Bar and get trashed while he plays those dubstep dance numbers.
i'll definitely be catching him at bestivali think it'll be interesting to see how his tunes translate in a festival setting
I think it'll be something like this:
I've just learned of him and another similar artist named Jamie Woon.
Both have great r&b-esque voices along with electronic music.
i watched that last night, and even though I think it's a great video, i could not keep from gagging at the spit part
That was nayasty.
Now, let's decipher the video and what is going on...
James Blake is the Tyler the Creator of electronic music.
fuck
Do.
