"New album next year I promise" - Flylo as he's closing. That was a wild set.

Stayed pretty much at the black stage all weekend except to see some cold cave, thermals, turquoise jeep, and slayer. Also saw Boris at a small club on Saturday which was fucking great. great time, would do again. A+

it was great. not flashy or anything, but it was everything i could want out of them. i only went on sunday so i can't speak for the stream but if it was anything like the previous 2 days, then probably shitty. the sound for the webcast was horrible imo.

Le Butcherettes were good, but the singer appeared to have serious mental problems.

I was really blown away by the mixing of Bird Peterson and Baths. Very talented. Most of the Blue stage on Sunday was awesome.

A little sick of the Danzig jokes after awhile. Although I still love Scott Reynolds' (f/ All) cover of Astro Zombies/apology to Glenn Danzig.

Fun Fun Fun Fest was Fun. Just dusty as shit so bandanas and sunglasses were the norm. The PIP looked amazing, 2 free meals a day, free swag and free booze all weekend for around double ticket price. Next year it's a certainty, my only advantage not getting PIP was getting Newcastle on draft which was not included in the free booze. Saturday the dust was worse than Bonnaroo this year, Sunday wasn't as bad since it rained some in the morning.

I ended up getting there at 8 Friday after having a vet emergency in the morning finding out my cats a diabetic. Walked around between Danzig and Public Enemy then caught Death Grips and Kool Keith at Engine Automotive. That brings up another point:

One of the coolest things the festival had was the aftershows in Austin. All the main bands ended up playing at the end of the night and there were other bands playing that were not listed online. Somewhere around 6 bars had FFFest only shows. I should have walked around more checking them out, but I ended up at Engine Automotive and Red 7 mostly. This is an awesome festival benefit, best difference compared to ACL was that these aftershows were free.

Saturday I saw Joy Formidable, some Tune-Yards, A moment of Donald Glover, Ra Ra Riot, snuck backstage to grab a picture of Dan Deacon from the rail, Cold Cave, M83, Kool Keith replaced Rakim, Girls, Lykke Li, then Major Lazer to close it out. I also never met up with my friends that day and was by myself due to abysmal phone service. I Went to catch the Purity Ring aftershow and meet up with my friends, but sound was so low that I left and went to catch Russian Circles which at Red 7. Major Lazer was the party of the weekend. I will say there was quite a bit of sound problems all over at the fest, but usually got fixed.

Sunday started off with Asobi Seksu, female wrestling, meeting up with friends, catching the Henry Rollins officiated wedding with a sexy sax man serenade, Budos Band who sounded wasted, Austra, Del, Flying Lotus, Diplo and some of all the headliners along with skating on the halfpipe for a moment. I spent a good chunk of the day hanging out with friends since we established meeting points.

The setup at auditorium shores was way better than waterloo other than the dust, the site is at least twice as large and it was set up along the river and the stages were well spaced apart. Some other cool stuff: they had a lounge area called El Camino lounge that had 5 old cars to chill in or on, you could buy mixed drinks at the bars, they had a bullride, halfpipe and food trucks among other things.

Overall massive improvements compared to waterloo, still using some of the same stages, but the orange is now bigger. The dual stage setup is so effective for seeing tons of music all day. Cutoff times were strictly enforced though, saw at least 4 bands cutoff.

Anyways here are my photos. Friday and Saturday picked through, about to upload Sunday.

Kool Keith is no replacement for Rakim.

True, I have seen him 3 times this year including twice that weekend. Which is overkill.

Here are my Sunday pics consolidated.
