This is so horrible. My heart goes out to the woman, knowing what she must be going through.

I hope this garners enough press that Goldenvoice does feel obligated to start running background checks on all its temporary festival hires. Although it's not a guaranteed fix, I would hope that they would do everything in their power to make sure something like this never happens again.

I doubt they could run background checks on every parking lot attendee, here it costs $35/person to do a background check, it's probably more in CA. But they should definetly have the parking lots monitored by security officers.

I completely agree, and my heart hurts just reading the story and knowing she will never get past what happened to her. One thing they could do is only hire through temp agencies that do background checks, but to run a background check themselves for an employee that would only work 3 days isn't "cost effective" as disturbing as that may sound.

I didn't go this year but last year they were all volunteers right? It just doesn't seem like the hiring practices are that great. Most of the people I ran into were half a step above carnival workers.

Here they are, they have to be fingerprinted and they run the background check, I have even heard of them doing hair folicle testing as well.

based on the shear number of people they need and where the fest is held i am guessing background checks aren't done. i mean, everyone has heard stories of shady security stealing people's weed, etc. in the campgrounds.

It is, but yeah, this is a parking lot worker who is freaking waving your car by and nothing else.

I talked to one of the guys wearing a CSC vest. He told me they were mostly from the San Burdu and Riverside area. He told me they didn't tell them anything, just stuck them out there.

Most of them didn't know North From East and sent people off in the wrong directions. They need to do a better job training their help.

I also think hiring unemployed locals would be a great idea.

So, I think the parking lot people were contracted from an outside company. I was stuck getting out of the campgrounds for about 30 minutes, then some van pulled up with a logo that said "(Name of company) Traffic control" and we were out almost instantly.
