Hmmmm I hope the crowd is good for the LA show tonight... I'm betting on no, but I'll try to get close to focus. Really excited for this show
6/2 - Bjork - Hollywood Palladium
6/5 - Cut Hands - The Void
6/11 GZA - Porter's Pub
6/12 - Casey Abrams - The Griffin
6/13 - Cold Cave - The Void
6/19 - ZZ Ward - Birch Aquarium
I hope so too. Sometimes SF just has poor crowds for these kinds of shows. In all fairness, I was a shit show this weekend and only barely pulled myself together to go to Nico at all, so I might have been pissier than usual about crowd problems. I ended up bailing after about 45 minutes because it was not enjoyable. I heard the encore was better, less corny saxophone.
Demdike Stare and Tropic of Cancer 5/14 at Black Lodge (Seattle)
Tropic of Cancer's Facebook says West Coast tour with more info to come. Crossing my fingers they come down our way.

No, I live about 30 mins outside of Downtown LA. Just saw the info for that show as a sign of hope for an LA date. I'll be so disappointed if they pass us up; and what the hell, while they're at it they should bring Andy Stott and Claro Intelecto out and make it a Modern Love night.
Not sure about the minimal/house scene up there but I'd imagine it's pretty good since they do have a thriving music scene, just probably not spoiled like Los Angeles. Magda and friends were just there recently, so it's definitely not dead.

There's some. I think it's a fairly good scene for the size of the city. There is a Seattle thread on the board, it's not very EDM oriented, but there are some folks on it who would definitely know of upcoming shows of that type.
The people who put on decibel are doing monthly shows now, and there are some good shows at ETG at least a couple of times a month, as well as undergrounds.
So it looks as though Droid Behavior is curating a stage at EDC. Fucking Droid Behavior is curating a stage at EDC and GV filled the Sahara with the muppet brigade.
Ugh.
Disgraceful.
I pray for the do-lab/campground lineup. I really do.

That's awesome, but it irks me to no end that they don't release the lineup earlier than just a couple weeks before the show. There are very few festivals I would attend without seeing a lineup beforehand. EDC sold out last year before they released the lineup which had one of Plastikman's very few 2011 US dates, I would have been there in a heartbeat had I had more than 2 weeks notice. I'm sure Droid will book a solid if not impressive stage.

Wow... I never thought I'd see the day when EDC sounds better than Coachella in terms of dance music... Makes me a sad bear. I <3 Droid Behavior. Those guys have their shit together. That Surgeon show last month was fantastic.

God I would be so down. Unsound seems to be the only festival really jumping on the Modern Love acts. Hopefully there are some at Decibel this year so I can catch them.

Very nice so far. Really starting to flow now at Darabi - "Top Drop" (Roman Flugel remix). Thanks for the tracklist.
Edit: Ok finished the mix. Second half kind of fizzled for me which happened to be mostly his own material. Still got some new tracks out of it. Thanks for the rec.

God, I had a really weird dream last night, where my mom had married, divorced and remarried a bunch of times, and was still living with the ex-husbands and their families, and somehow both Whittaker and Canty had become my step brothers and were living in my dad's old house. (As well as Marco Carola, kind of a weird combination). In the dream, Whittaker was *actually* into witchcraft and kept trying to get me to help him cast spells while I was (in the dream) tripping and then I was being chased by shadow people for the rest of the dream.
My actual step siblings were there too. Weird.
Love this:

I love every record that's been mentioned in this thread.
I also love this Richie Hawtin interviewing Skrillex: http://www.factmag.com/2012/03/30/de...eets-skrillex/
I think I'm the only minimal techno / bass head / IDM / old school dubstep guy who isn't mad at Skrillex.
Er, besides Richie Hawtin. Although Hawtin never really expresses an opinion of Skrillex one way or the other in the interview (understandably).
[cue the haters]

naw dawg fuq skrillexx. That interview is pretty hilarious.. but I still hate Skrillex simply for his lack of mixing skills and the general shitty-ness of his music.
I've been bumpin that new Joy Orbison/Boddika collab all week. So good. Thanks for sharing those goodies Ross.
Oh my god. This b2b is like my dream come true. I'm also still so admittedly angry that GV didn't book Jackmaster for Coachella, too. Even Gary Richards had the wherewithal to book Jackmaster at a HARD event where he probably only played to like 50 people but still; he would absolutely give the Sahara tent a fucking party to be reckoned with.
6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel

Jackmaster would be so prime, especially after this (and his Fabric mix last year).
Gotta get on that new Joy O / Boddika

Jackmaster was brilliant opening for Omar-S in the PW loft last fall. So, so looking forward to Ben UFO on that monster system at Monarch.
