Wow. Lucy is a master of the decks; one of the best dj's I've seen.
SF you're in for a treat, I really wish I could get the time off to drive up next weekend. That was just insane.
waka waka
That's great to hear. I'm pretty excited for Friday!
Lucy was pretty good, the venue was cool. a grow-op just right off the 10,
I was really surprised by how incredibly bearable the crowd was for LA.
I'm jealous you guys got to go. I was stuck down in San Diego working.
Stoked for Surgeon though. Holy shit.
I only saw the act directly before Lucy (bald asian guy) but he threw down really well for being an opening dj, not the most inventive tracks but he worked the crowd really well.

Halfway there guys, c'mon out to the West Coast!
Also, why the fuck doesn't Silent Servant play out here more often? Has he moved to Europe?
New Synkro podcast for RA is fucking great:

Those Bunker shows are always insane. I wanted to go to the Optimo/Luke Hess one they held this past weekend.
Yeah, the lineups are always impressive. Though on occasion they come up w/ something otherworldly. This is one of those occasions.
I know that SF has Juju and Jordash splitting a bill w/ DVS1 in March. Hope we get some of the Sandwell District guys round the same time. Fear its unlikely but I've heard whispers of a proper Sandwell District (Function + Regis) show sometime later in the year.
Yea I'm really looking forward to the DVS1/Juju/Jordash show. And I'm starting to feel like I made a mistake regarding this upcoming weekend... Meat Katie instead of Optimo...
Prediction: Saturday will be a total loss after Friday's thumping. So prob no need to stress, haha.
Yea, I have completely relapsed (gotten worse actually) on my illness, so right now I'm saving everything I've got for Lucy/PvH/morning parties and assuming I will probably flake on everything else for the weekend.
Still, people talking about how amazing Optimo was are giving me second thoughts...
Top class record bag, that's for sure.
I'm finally listening to Planet Assault System The Messenger. Wow. Does Luke ever tour?
5/25-5/27: MOVEMENT DETROIT
6/6: The Field @ The Independent
6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel
Not the West Coast. At least not recently as far as I can remember. Think he was booked in NYC not long ago but had to cancel last minute.
I strongly suggest seeing Lucy in SF or otherwise if the chance ever presents itself. He was outstanding in LA.
Giving the new John Talabot album a first listen. Really excellent stuff here.
Can't wait to hear this gem played out at the end of long night:
Magic.
Seriously Ross that track is so great. First one that stuck out to me

^^ guedita and ross and gribbs have been talking about that one a lot today, glad they brought it up or I would have missed it. I've already listened to it twice this afternoon. So, so good.
That mix caused me to text something really crude, along the lines of "if I had a dick, it would be hard right now," when I listened to it earlier today. Loooove it.
I appreciate the direction Talabot has taken w/ the new LP. Very of a piece w/ the here and now of dance music. But in briefly mining his discography I stumbled across this blissed out gem from last year that I'd completely forgotten about. I've been listening to a lot of dark, smoky, leftfield stuff as of late and hearing this was a welcome respite. Happy vibes aplenty. Put a smile on my face and a spring in my step.
Fair warning to those mired in a cubicle: likely to induce a fit of chair raving.![]()
