Just wondering for next year, how quickly do the hotels close to Coachella (<5 miles away) run out of rooms?
Thanks!

Very quickly, but there tend to be a lot of dropped reservations as the events nears, so you can usually find something even within a week of the fest if you diligent.
6/21/13-6/23/13 - Solid Sound Music Festival - MASS MOCA

...And when i say very quickly, I mean more than 6 months in advance.

I've already got my reservations for next year. At least the first two weekends of April. Will cancel the other weekends once the official dates come out.

I bought a reservation from a dude who was basically buying up rooms and reselling them at double the cost to schmucks like me. When I went in to check into the hotel the guys in front of me in line were able to snag a room on the spot for about 40% of what I paid. It was a pretty janky hotel though that had no website and could only be contacted by phone. The plus side was, it was on the corner of 111 and Madison so the location was fucking amazing.
Thanks for the responses... buying early seems to be key haha.
Already booked my hotel reservation for 2012 and I did the same thing last year, for this year's festival.
Pretty quickly depending on how picky you are about where you stay and how close it is. I usually book right when the date is confirmed.
I booked into the Marriot Villa's last November - it's not so much availability but the price is better when you book earlier. Obvious point I know.
Ale, Ale, AleAleAle,
Allesandro....Del Piero,
He's Sydney's number 10
Where the sky's blue SYDNEY!
They generally start filling up the week the dates are announced... Which is usually in the fall
I just booked a room for the weekend of April 12-16
Almost every hotel that I checked in Palm Desert had doubled their rates for that weekend(besides this one) So I wanted to jump on it. Plus they don't charge your card until you check it so I have the option of canceling
related question: cg and i are talking about renting a house for the weekend. when should we have it booked by?

Just booked the Renaissance in Palm Springs for both April 13-16 and April 20-23... I'll cancel on the weekend coachella doesn't take place. Best to book hotels now bc I remember checking the Renaissance for this year and it was around $400/night and I just booked it for almost a 1/3 of that right now.
^ So now what are you going to do?!
Great date selection!
Are places already selling out? A few of my usuals are already booked (or just blocked off). Any recommendations?
If you're willing to drive a few miles, check Palm Desert. More affordable options there and some which won't require you to pay in advance. And that's all I'm saying on the matter. Please don't PM me.
Yeah. I was expecting things in Palm Desert to be twice their normal rates, but almost almost everything is three times usual price or completely booked already. The Ace in Palm Springs is blocked off for the whole month of April, too.
A lot of hotels probably aren't taking reservations this early.
That's what I'm hoping -- I'm grabbing something now and will just keep an eye out for other places to open along the way.
It's amazing what the price increase is for Coachella weekend(s), but it doesn't surprise me. My friends and I camp, but get a hotel for the Wednesday night prior. I booked a few rooms at the Clarion in Indio for $71/room. Starting on Thursday night, the price triples.
I booked a crappy red roof in 7 miles away for $70 a night. I'm shocked I could book it online that far in advance.
Most hotels/motels allow you to book one year in advance.
I won't stress over hotels at this point simply because it's the one thing we always seem to never have trouble with. Even the weeks leading up to the festival there always seems to be rooms opening up due to cancellations.
My god, the travelodge and best western are trying to charge $260 - $400 a night. What the fuck? They've never been that high before. those bastards.
I been staying at the samme hotel for six years of coachella...its a fucking half hour away.
A jewel...spa suites for 200 a night.
just called to book a few suites......desk guy tells me dude named jonathan bought out the whole fucking hotel.
Baller....I wanna know who this jonathan guy is.
Do it now. The place I stayed at this year sold out a few weeks ago.
