    Default Justin Timberlake: 2012 Headliner

This isn't really a wish or desire of mine, but I am interested to hear all of you weigh in on this suggestion/possibility. Here is my argument:

    1. He is going to be recording a new album this summer. (http://www.rap-up.com/2011/03/06/jus...m-this-summer/) One or two singles off the album could easily hit the radio this fall.

    2. It would be foolish to deny that by 2012, festival-going in general will have undoubtedly hit the highest peak of being "mainstream." We know GV is going to book a radio-friendly headliner. Would he sell tickets? I think yes.

    3. He is a good dancer.

    Discuss.

You beat me to it, guedita. He should headline. But if his new album does poorly/release date gets pushed back til after Coachella 2012, then he wouldn't have enough material to headline.

Can someone post a live video that shows how it'd fit Coachella? Genuinely curious, never listened and I know he's a cool dude in person.

I'm at work (can't post vids), but he did an HBO special a couple years ago that was pretty sweet.

Not really a fan of his music, but definitely a fan of his talent. He is a very VERY talented individual, from his dancing to his musical (true) pitch.

So these are from his Madison Square Garden concert and obviously there is a lot of pandering to the crowd to have them sing along and stuff. I wouldn't want or imagine a headlining appearance at Coachella to be exactly like this.

I would drink all day, and drunkenly dance all night for JT. Both his albums are cholk-full of gems.

Coachella's popularity is increasing, like guedita said. And wouldn't you, baily, be happy that the mainstream pop headliner isn't black?

This is probably the worst idea I've ever read on this message board, almost as bad as having Usher as a headliner. Shit, at least Usher still has radio hits & dances way better than JT.

What's next? Justin Bieber for 2012?

Timberlake would probably just pander to our stupid American instincts anyway by playing recognizable, good songs.

Yes, so why would you suggest him as a headliner if you haven't even heard his new material? If his new album blows, then what? We're stuck to another shitty headliner such as KOL? Cool.

C'mon e'rybody! You all know you have a soft spot for ol' JT. And you all know you love "Dick in a Box" by The Lonely Island & JT. Just admit it, he'd be a great headliner.

So, to recap: If an act has a library of material you enjoy, but has a pending album of new material, that act would make for a BAD headliner, because of the chance the new album will be bad. Which, I guess, negates the previous material.

If we're gonna get another solo male pop star as a headliner, I'd prefer Elton.

This could be fun though, don't think it will happen though.

I suppose I was implying that the new album would be good. You know, since this is a hypothetical scenario that I am asking people to weigh on in.
