Yea, I hate when people define dubstep by bass wobbles. There is different types of dubstep and its more then just wobbles. Some dont even use LFO'd basses.
Sub basses, cut time drum tracks, synth and vocal microcuts, poly rhythmic synths, glitched samples, blah blah blah. Dubstep is more then just wobble wobble.
I LOVE BASS OMG. CANT WAIT TO BE ROLLING BALLS TO SOME FLUX P.
i hate the boards more and more everyday.
also if i see the word "brostep" used once more on this fuckin board, i will shoot myself. if you guys are going to be talking about a genre as wide and open as dubstep, then be ready to have people posting about artist you may not like and dont think are "dubstep".
I don't know what's worse. Dubstep, brostep, "post dubstep", or the fans of any of these.
what about future garage? or drum step? i know there's got to be an even more asinine one, i just can't think of it...
So is that pronounced "four by four over two" or "four by four halves?"
Or do we want to take it all the way to simplest terms, "four by two?"
I am not fond of all these different sub-genre names but it does help to describe a sound in a simpler form.
A friend of mine was talking to Danny the Wildchild after a show in SD recently about dnb shows in Chicago back in the day. He says now he plays alongside all these newer dubstep acts and he will have kids coming up asking him about the "double time dubstep" he drops. I'm sure that kind of stupid shit gets asked a lot but it's still sad and funny.
HAHAHAHAHA double time dubstep good lord
You see, I view derpstep as a reaction against the complacency of brostep, but you know it's all semantics.
but perhaps, that youngster is going to be so curious about "double time dubstep" that they actually make the effort to learn about the music, and discover their mistake, and years later when they are powerfully contributing to the culture they will tell their embarrassing story about asking a junglist icon a question...
guys im new to dubstep..
the first time i was introduced to dubstep was during a britney spears single
what do you guys recommend for a first time dubstep listener?
would i like derpstep or brostep?
or is it possible to like both or this "double time step" you speak of?
