I understand the argument that many make for dubstep, and I feel sorry for people who have to defend the good side of the genre from accusations that it is indeed the bastardized version that has become so prevalent this side of the pond.

After doing my own ranting and raving about how much I hate "artists" who rely off assaulting their audiences with constant bass wobbles, I finally came to the conclusion that like all genres, there is good and bad. Dubstep has some truly terrible music that is promoted under its banner, but there is a lot of good in it too. I am utterly tired of the crap being spewed from Skrillex, Datsik, etc.

However, great stuff comes out everyday. Sometimes you just have to look for it. My newest favorite, Sepalcure:

So, if I'm signing to rid us of wobble loving brainlessness, then yes, I'm happy to sign. I'd really like to see Burial, Sepalcure, etc. I wouldn't call myself informed of the genre, but I'd be doing it a disservice if I didn't at least try to explain my view.

At first I was extremely adamant about defending the dubstep that doesn't fall into the cesspit of brosteppers, but I eventually gave up.

I LOVE the genre, and it IS extremely diverse. Most people on here hate dubstep because they've only listed to Skrillex. That would be like saying I hate all rock music because I've only ever listed to Kings of Leon. Ridiculous, right?

In the end, as long as I get warm, soulful tunes like this, you can hate the genre all you want, you really are missing out.

I would have agreed a month ago, but everything I've been told is that this is part of the post-dubstep movement. Yes, I am referencing a movement invented by the ever self-important Pitchfork.

    http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/4...ure-Sepalcure/
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/jg5c

Like I said, I don't proclaim to know anything, I just repeat what I'm told. Apparently Sepalcure is considered by other sources to be glitch/dubstep, glitch-dub, soul-dub, or whatever the hell people decide to call it. All I know is that I like it.

As a point of comparison, I'll include one of the best progenitors of dubstep.

If that is dubstep, and Psyche's post is dubstep, then perhaps I like dubstep. I know I don't like wobbletastic stuff, though. It's not very inventive.

Agree. This is more reminiscent of psy-trance. Sphongle-esque tune and he put on one hell of a show last year in the Sahara...

Sepalcure is hardly psy-trance. Post-dubstep, UK funky, footwork, house, future-garage, sure. but psy-trance? I think not.

I've been searching for info on possible Burial live shows in 2012, having seen several comments in the RA forums hinting at it.

As of now, he does not play out.

This would be an absolutely massive "get".

Hypothetically ... does he close the Gobi?

Also, he may be pants w/ a live set, production chops notwithstanding. Then again, the music is so fucking good it might not even matter.

They should put him in the Sahara because of his role in the dance music/EDM scene. But I would more expect a Mojave.... a la the Mojave is the new Sahara?

Damn, what a treat that would be.

Imagine Burial in the Sahara, mid afternoon slot. 1/4 of the tent is dancing. Back half is a sea of seated horribles, cat-calling for Avicii. Hahahaha.

    Of Course. Goes without saying.

Sven Vath also needed a night set. He didn't get one and the result was essentially what I've described above. Just replace Avicii w/ Duck Sauce.

The odds of Burial playing are about zilch. But hey, anything's possible.

I realize Dubstep is a dirty word these days, but fuck, I don't want to hear post-dubstep in the Sahara, and I sure could give a frog's fat ass about brostep. So for christ's sake, play some proper dubstep. /crackyespressodrivenrant

Last time I read anything about Burial DJing he said he would probably end up just playing old jungle. That is if he even could DJ.

Man. I got so excited last night when I finally got around to listening to the snippet of his new track Ashtray Wasp because I realized it's one of the dopest tracks Kode 9 played during the unreleased Burial tunes set in Torino. Fuuuuuck I cannot wait to hear the full 8 minutes. Been waiting for the real thing for over a year now.
