you know you want to
Weezy plus a live band would probably be a good show, but I don't think you'll find too many folks here that like this idea.
Dude, I like Lil' Wayne but still think this wouldn't go over well. I've seen him live and the only time the crowd got really hype was during the Cash Money medley of Back That Azz Up/I Need A Hot Girl etc. He still does the whole screaming instead of rapping thing, tons of hypemen, DJ instead of full band, etc. He wouldn't bring the musicality of Jay-Z or the spectacle of Kanye, it'd just be an average rap set by a very famous rapper. For some reason I group Dre/Jay-Z/Kanye/OutKast in one group that makes sense at Coachella, and Lil' Wayne/Eminem/T.I. in another group that makes no sense to me despite what other festivals are doing.
Since I think GV isn't going to go for three hip-hop headliners in a row, I'd rather Coachella spend the hip-hop bucks on somebody like Clipse, Curren$y, Pharoahe Monche, Method Man or a big hip-hop classic like A Tribe Called Quest.
I would have totally taken Lil' Wayne over Kanye this year
Lil bit jealous of Bonaroo
How about this, no stupid hip-hop bullshit next year, and some serious hip-hop: LL Cool J!
He was the surprise guest at the z-trip shoe a couple months ago. Did a few classics. It was fun. But I wouldn't have classified it as "serious hip hop".
EDIT: Forgot we were talking about Lil Wayne, which is prob what you were referring to.
Thats is all
Not seeing this happen.
Anything is possible...
Would he take anything less than headliner? If not, I'm hard pressed to think that he would ever be at Coachella because I don't see Goldenvoice using a headliner spot on him.
Yeah, the most popular rapper on earth would totally be sub-headliner.
This disgusts me. He sold 31,000 albums in opening week in Canada. I guess we just don't get it.
Anything is possible...
It doesn't matter. Lil Wayne isn't going to play Coachella anyway.
Lil Wayne suxxx
And can't believe that there is actually a discussion about this idiot playing Coachella. Oh the pain, the pain. I
Lil Wayne couldn't even headline Bonnaroo, what makes people think he could do the same at Coachella? That being said, his set at Bonnaroo was terrible. 20 minutes late, only backed by a DJ and all he would do is one verse, then the chorus, then move on to the next song. He was worse than Eminem who sucked.
if that douche takes up a subhead spot for someones who worthy of it and will put on a good show, ill be kinda bugged. Paul knows better then this though.
2010 * 2011 * 2012.1 * 2013.2
this isnt happening. ever.
I really love Lil Wayne's music and initially would love to have him at Coachella, but it's disappointing to hear that's he's not good live. Damn.
