Watched Arctic Monkeys, Primus and a chunk of F-Lips between breaks on the Lolla stream.

The race course is such a weird place the have a music festival. hot concrete, lack of wind and all the car fencing remains in place making it feel like a prison.

Interesting to see how an auto racetrack is used for a festival site. I guess sanitation and electricity and some fencing is already in place. Top link is a news peice with some aeriel view helicopter shots.

Hunting has been part of our society since the first Europeans came over and shot buffalo and Native Americans and whatnot.

I am surprised, I thought Tiesto and fun. would've brought in a crowd.

I wasn't planning on going, the few acts I wanted to see were split between the days.
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

Would be nice if LouFest could pick up some of those bands. I imagine several of them were constricted by a blackout period or region. LouFest can't really pick up a headliner, but some mid-card bands would sure help strengthen the middle, which is now all fun.-wannabe-wimp rock. Descendents, Dropkick Murphys, Polyphonic Spree, Yeasayer...

That would be interesting. I vote for Descendents, She and Him, Camera Obscura, and Danny Brown.

I'm perversely glad to see this thing dead. As someone from KC, I was glad to see someone putting a major effort into building a major festival for our fair city.

But Kanrocksas was just corporate swagger, the product of a local wealthy guy investing in the hot property of music festivals. I don't have a problem with that - but that business mentality seemed to dictate how the whole festival was run. They bragged about using a "Moneyball" strategy in booking acts in picking up cheaper bands to build a wide range of attractions that could appeal to everyone and make up for lacking a traditional (more expensive) headliner. The result of that ended up being that everyone had a few acts they'd want to see, but not nearly enough to justify $175 for a two-day festival.

Are there any other festivals like this out there? Purely business ventures that confuse their financial interest in festivals with the ability to properly program a festival failing this much?

She & Him played the first LouFest as a headliner (!)

I don't have much to say beyond this: "Kanrocksas" is literally the stupidest festival name I have ever seen.
    For your health
