While I would prefer to hear them recreate some of these tracks live. My desire to see them doesn't really waiver if they don't. I've heard incredible things about their El Rey show and know that whenever they decide to play more shows they will have some fantastic production behind it. It's sort of a bucket list act for me and I'd enjoy the opportunity to see them on the polo fields.

You're right. And when they do sit down for interviewers it always ends up being 'them' who steer the conversation.

Scandanavians, their humor and their command of English make for some of the most interesting, off track interviews... especially when it comes to artists. I don't think I've read or watched a single Royksopp or Bjork interview that went according to plan.

Yeah I have the making of Medulla dvd, and there are parts where Bjork is very coherent and effective at communicating her ideas, and then other parts where you are just like - this bitch cray cray.

The Knife are very secluded. They sent others to accept awards that they have won, and their performance of Pass This On on TV was essentially a recreation of the music video. Sure, Olof was there, but he was dancing with a tranny so I'm not counting it.

I am not sure. I'd definitely take them just playing instruments on a stage with no visuals. But, so much of why I love going to shows is actually watching the artists perform. Seeing them play on stage. Otherwise, I'd just wait for a bootleg to arise and then listen to it.

Before I’ve been a dogmatic drum machine and synthesizer user. But I think was interesting to bring that sequencer way of thinking into the acoustic instrument. Also we had this idea of recording classic orchestral instruments and then sample and create the sound of an orchestra going crazy. Me and Ptr went to Iceland to record with a great percussionist Hjörleifur Jonsson, who had a really nice collection of percussion instruments with interesting character. We recorded in huge space to catch this majestic reverb and these instruments are heard on every track

We’ve tried to capture this huge diversity you fell when reading Darwin. So we’ve used everything from field recordings from the Amazon and also our own environment – also fake field record like our own suggested animal alike synthetic sounds. Feedback sounds from different analog effects – orchestral percussion and string instruments – tried to make exciting vocal sounds

He did a ton of field recordings for his Oni Ayhun stuff. I've never actually read anywhere about him playing instruments or performing in other bands. I know Karin plays the guitar really damn well...

Yes, MJA, I realize that capturing audio is not the same as performing an instrument.

The field recording thing supports his comments on being so attached to drum machines and synthesizers- he hasn't (to my knowledge) revealed any information as to his prowess with acoustic instruments.

I've been looking for it but i thought i read a year or couple years ago where they said that the drum machine has loops on it and he's really actually using the machine in live shows.But there's so many horrible interviews with the Knife that I'm going stop looking on youtube.

edit: ^Im still looking to clarity this.I've spent too much time to make sure that's what i read but I remember reading that he actually uses that drum machine .

Seriously... so awful. I bet if a publication sat them down with brian eno or steve reich and recorded the conversation, they would extrapolate more interesting information than they could ever do asking mundane, written questions. Same with Royksopp..the way they toy with their interviewers entertains me and pisses me off at the same time. They love to make an ass out of people.

edit: ok brian eno and steve reich are bad examples... any musician would fit.
