So, Dr. Dre plus or minus guests (like snoop or ice cube) vs. Outkast
Who would you rather see do a greatest hits set?
Dr. Dre
Outkast

I know a lot of you don't want to hear this, but I believe Eminem is a more realistic choice as a hip hop headliner at this point than either Dre or Outkast (assuming GV picks another hip hop headliner).
You may not like it (I do, I have liked and listened to Em since 1998) but he's headlining Roo and Lolla and if Coachella goes the route of another hip hop headliner, the safe bet would be Em at this point, IMO.
For the record, I picked Outkast.
I've seen Dr. Dre + guests (Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Xzibit etc.) before and it was great.
I'm going to have to go with OUTKAST though. Easy choice.

Wait. Is it officially official that one of the headliners must be a hip hop artist now?

About as official as "the classic/old guy rock" slot.
Glad that didn't last.

I would like to vote for Neil Young covering Outkast's greatest hits then.

I see your point about Em, and its a good one but remember that Dre has a super anticipated album coming out this year (probably, it is the chinese democracy of rap and all)
Hard hard hard choice right there. I think I would choose Outkast, simply because Dre would be lacking Nate Dogg.
ha, I love listening to 2001 instrumental. Incredible album. Modern day Mozart right here
THis is a very good question and it's pretty damn difficult for me. I've seen Snoop twice, it essentially becomes a huge west coast celebration. Warren G, Dogg Pound came out and the entire venue just became a huge party. He needs to be at Coachella already. Dre with guests would be amazing. Not having Natt Dogg is a huge blow however.
I would still probably have to say Outkast though. They could play for 3 hours and I wouldn't get to hear all the songs I would want. THem at Coachella is just too perfect
Then I will hold you down and spit her percolations all over you until you're as greasy as the day she regrets pushing your big fat ass out her big fat cunt.
dres music is on par but he wouldnt put on nearly the spectacle

Outkast. Dr. Dre just... doesn't seem like an act I want to see closing Coachella
Neither.
Would pick Outkast though.

Eminem, Xzibit, Nate Dogg, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and many many many others all owe their career to Dr Dre. If for some odd reason his "solo career" isn't worthy of headline status, just think about all the other careers he has made. I cant even think of any other musician that has brought so many other musicians into the spotlight.
I disagree to an extent on the Eminem point. Growing up in Northern Cali in the 90's we would listen to sway and tech constantly and Eminem was on there well before Dre signed him.
Dre heard Em on Sway and Tech, realized he had a demo of Em, listened to it and signed him. At the time, there were other labels after Eminem but Dre came in and swiped Eminem up quickly before any other major label could despite having interest.
At that time, most people believed Dre had completely fallen off. Eazy-E was dead, Cube was with westside connection, 2Pac was dead, Snoop left dre and eventually went to No limit and Dre's initial Aftermath compilation was not good at all.
In a sense they helped each other equally. Dre gave Eminem a little more credibility while Eminem helped bring Dre out of the funk he was in. It was probably a case of perfect timing. However, Eminem would have signed with someone else had Dre not signed him. He was in The Source's unsigned hype section, competed in Scribble Jam and the Rap Olympics and was a regular on Sway and Tech before Dre signed him.
