But I would argue that they should be in the Sahara (despite the tent's shift in music and demographics).

People need to be exposed to good music, especially music that pushes a genre to a better level. Kids who are getting into EDM and thinking Duck Sauce was the best thing ever are just on the tip of the ice burg when it comes to exploring the world of EDM. I started out with The Chemical Brothers when I was in high school, but at one point I also thought that mstrkrft was fucking unreal. After exploring the genre, only then did I find out how amazing Underworld is.

Put a hot current act right before Underworld, then let UW close out the Sahara and create new fans. I absolutely loved the crowd and the vibe of the Mojave during trentemoller and leftfield this year, but part of me was wishing that could have been happening in the Sahara

A month ago I would have vehemently disagreed, but this year made it very clear that dance acts can and do flourish on any stage. And if it weeds out the riff-raff then all the better.

I have yet to listen to much of Underworld. But their reputation precedes them. I hope they make it in 2012. Especially at the Outdoor. Besides Empire of the Sun this past year I thought the Outdoor was lacking hard.

rather than albums, i recommend the 3disc Live In Tokyo, the Essential Mix live in Ibiza from last year, or the bootleg from Oakland the nite before Hard Bummer 09

Guys, just because The Chems can play the mainstage (or an outdoor setting) here doesn't mean they all can. They aren't anywhere near as big as The Chems.

Underworld in a tent would infinitely greater than the outdoor/mainstage.

Underworld absolutely used to be main stage material but they've been a little off the radar for the past few years and their ability to draw has diminished.

For anyone wanting to see what their live show is about, there is a DVD they put out in 2000 called "Everything, Everything" (some of the clips in this thread are ripped from it). It'll be tough, if not impossible, to find a DVD of live performances as good as that one.
