Lilia did you end up making it to the Demdike live score? If you did what did you think?
4/19-4/21 Coachella
5/3-5/5 Denver
5/18 Agoria/Stacey Pullen (NYC)
5/25-5/27 DEMF (Detroit)
6/5 Bjork (Palladium)
6/13-6/15 Sonar (Spain)
That's too bad that extraneous circumstances affected some or your Kangding Ray experience. Granted and regrettably that was the only set I caught at Melrose but that left a lasting impression for me. I did see a crowd outside walking in from the bar next door, I'm sure I walked right past some of y'all. And I agree with Chiapet, Q seemed like it belong more in Vegas/LA then in Seattle but I have to say I wish that a club like that could exist in SF and still remain low key.
I did make it thanks to confusion regarding the Optical show and the scoring running late! I had to go to the will-call place to get my Optical ticket and they had just started the movie so I was able to catch most of it and thought it was very entertaining. Quite a few times the entire theater broke out in laughter because the scenes were so funny and combined with the score, it just worked well. I'm glad that I caught it and I was still able to make it down to Triple Door for Optical. When I saw Demdike Stare later at Melrose and saw their visuals, it made even more sense why they'd choose to re-score such a ridiculous film.
Man I wish I would have gone to the movie. It didn't seem like you guys missed much of the other Optical at all.
The live scoring was great at VIA, creepy and funny at the same time. Kind of felt like a waking fever dream in parts. I assume they re-edited the film for the screenings? Otherwise that movie is a completely non-sensical mess, but in the best way possible. Still wish I could see a full on live Demdike set though.
I'm so glad you caught it! It just struck me as something you'd dig.
Patrick - it is indeed a re-edited version of the film, chopped down from 85 to 50 minutes. I walked out of if wondering what the hell I'd just seen and wishing I could see the original version somehow. Truly some weird shit, in a totally awesome way.
This thread is hard to find. Any chance of changing the title to decibel? ("db" is too short to search).
Anyway, this gave me a thrill on Monday. I hope it's about the actual festival and not just the monthly events.
BIG Decibel Festival announcement coming this Wednesday at 11AM PST. HINT: You may want to hold off on your Holiday gift purchases for a few more days![]()
I'm hoping for presale info or NYE info. Both would be nice. I'm excited though! I miss all of you guys.
Oh and seeing Kangding Ray mentioned on this page reminded me about Rob Booth's posts on fb regarding KR's EE mix due this month. He claims it is the EE mix of the year. Can't wait to hear that!
I hope so too. Ideally my trip next year is going to end with dB, I am eager to see what is going to be announced.
I just bought mine too. Not 100% certain I can go, but I think I'll work it out, and if not, they're easy enough to transfer.
Purchased. I may not be able eat for a week, but there is no way I am missing out on dB10.
I don't even have my DEMF ticket yet. These ticket sale things are getting ridiculous.
5/25-5/27: MOVEMENT DETROIT
6/6: The Field @ The Independent
6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel
Psh. Stop complaining and just drink at home for the next month.
Seriously, I don't even have the vacation time to do this next year, BUT, I think I'm making it happen no matter what. Worst case I will work "from home" from Seattle for a couple of days, and miss Wednesday night of the fest...
Er. No. That was due to poor decisions made in the first 24 hours I was in town...
What took 3 weeks to sell out last year took less than 1 day this year. I'm so excited, not only for this whole pre-sale stuff but that dB is bringing out FaltyDL and Andy Stott again on the same weekend, back to back nights. Way to make this winter not as miserable! Now if we could get some NYE info cause right now there is nothing of interest.
Oh man, I hope FaltyDL plays a SF show.
There's nothing of interest going on here for NYE either. Pretty disappointing.
As if the DEMF news weren't enough, decibel has just announced that tier two of their festival passes will go on sale on Friday here:

I missed out on the first tier. Whats the second tier price?
Doesn't say. I've asked on facebook, will post if I hear anything back before Friday.
