No. I was sincerely curious. I feel like I don't even know what dubstep is, or that I define it differently than others do. The first time I ever heard the term was when I read Pitchforks review of Burials Untrue and so I've always associated it with that type of music, which as far as I can tell has absolutely zero 'whomp'.

Why the hell is Thursday so stacked? I'd be happy with just those showcases spread over the course of the long weekend, and yet they are all pretty much conflicting. Not to mention occurring the same night as I arrive.

Surely there is more to come? Are you really going to complain about having a lot of good choices?

It's a trifle annoying, all of the big names that we are interested in, except Ulrich Schnauss, are in conflict Thursday night.

How late do you think you'll be arriving? I fully expect that we'll all be running between shows like fucking lunatics on Thursday night. I am actually looking forward to it.

I guess I should re-warn you, regarding DEMF, that there will always be at least 2 acts at the festival that you want to see, and always at least 2 after parties at the same time that sound great. Decisions, we have to make them. I'm learning to not complain about having more than one great choice, when so many festivals leave me wishing for any...

Our issue is that we're coming up for a wedding on Saturday, not the festival. Therefore, no full festival pass for us and ideally, we wouldn't be spending the extra dough to come up Thursday.

As of right now, we haven't bought plane tix or reserved our accommodations, but our hand is kind of forced to arrive on Thursday due to the showcases that night.

Amon's playing the Warfield on Oct. 1st, which doesn't allow us much choice to miss him on the Thursday night in Seattle. At any rate, you won't be able to see the headliners at the Crocodile and Showbox and Paramount. You can only do one and then end up at Neumos, which is the least desirable showcase that evening.

In regards to the lineup being stacked on Thursday, I kind of agree it is annoying because there is so much awesomeness, but as long as other days get a share of goodness and there are no brutal conflicts, then I will be happy.

I think the only dubstep acts on the lineup that I care about are Martyn and Zomby.

The only name that I know that could fit the wobble style is Mt Eden. Breakage played a lot of dubstep I didn't really care for the last couple times I saw him. I think eprom could fit in here as well - but he has that bay area burner sound (that's the easiest way for me to categorize a lot of those artists since there is a very distinct sound to their production).

I would really love to see Machinedrum get added.

Oh look... another opportunity for me to post Heresy!

I have played this YT, seriously over 100 times in the last week. Usually while making some sort of 'o' face that makes my coworkers really uncomfortable.

I was looking for some mixes of Max Cooper's and easily found 4 available for download through his soundcloud page. They sound pretty damn good and I'm looking forward to giving them all full listens soon.

Also, just saw that kidhops will be playing on Saturday - spinning all vinyl from Hospital Records. Uh... Awesome! Finally making it out to a show as a resident here.

And yea ^^^ that showcase looks great.

How late do you guys think these shows will run? 10ish? Enough time to get to the 2nd act at a 9pm start time showcase? Then to an after party? That's a triple header, fikus!!

Holy crap it's really sinking in just how much fun this week is gonna be!

I'm counting on being able to check out at least 3 things per night (1 showcase & 2 night-time shows, and... oh yea? after parties?). But I'm going to make an effort to ignore dB news until mid-September and not get caught up in the micro-hypothetical-planning of my time. :-)

Will there be after-parties? Seattle is no way a late night town.

It's good to hear that there will be after-parties. Normally, Seattle's late night scene is pretty sparse; Noc Noc (barf) downtown and the underground House club in Capital Hill across from Chop Suey.
