Prince has 2 perfect albums: Purple Rain and Dirty Mind. 1999 would be the 3rd if it weren't for the middle section of Lady Cab Driver and its total excess.

And Mr. Fuzz, I was initially inclined to agree with you on the Violent Femmes album, but Promise and To The Kill are minor songs.

1999 is definitely too much of a mess to qualify.

I feel that way about some of my favorites, and I think that's an issue with trying to decide if something's really "perfect". I love Double Nickels or Zen Arcade or The White Album as much for the imperfections as for the fact that they are chock full of great songs, but I would never call them perfect albums. They are perfect 10s, yes, but not perfect albums.

Now some of you may want to disqualify this one, since it is technically a compilation, but I say fuck that. virtually all of us heard these songs from this album and never heard them as singles first. The time period the singles were released over is very tight just two or three years, so it's not like this is a decade's worth of Greatest Hits. Most importantly though is the thing coheres, and shines brilliantly, as a single piece. It really sounds like an album and not a collection of singles. So yeah. Perfect.

I want to say Sufjan's Illinois but I'm sure there are some songs I'm forgetting that leave me drifting.

We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

I strongly considered this one, but didn't go with it because I assumed someone would bitch about it being a compilation. I agree with you on this 100% though, this thing is perfect.

Not only will this allow us to share our music taste, but I'll be able to take suggestions as to what bands are worth listening to. Here is my list:

    The Beatles: Abbey Road

    Led Zeppelin: Led Zeppelin II

Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon

Radiohead: Kid A and OK Computer.

    The Strokes: Is This It

I like Ryan Adams' early work a lot. Rock N Roll is where his career started to seriously nosedive in my opinion. That album is so damned unoriginal and derivative and not very interesting. If you like Adams I suggest you go get all the Whiskeytown albums instead of this drivel.

I was gonna say. Don't Tell A Soul, when the Replacements have Let It Be, quite probably the only album I can think of that uses sloppy, off tempo guitars, unpracticed vocals and general craziness to reach perfection.
