You have to admit its a damn fine album.
That album prefers the early stuff.

This is Happening is definitely superior to LCD's self-titled. Not so sure about Sound of Silver.

Sound of Silver might be Sound of Silver's weakpoint, but it's definitely better than This Is Happening.

Devo - Are We Not Men
The Cramps - The Songs the Lord Taught Us

"Mr. Toad's Wild Aidz."
I was coming on this thread to post this album. Literally my favorite album for a solid percentage of my life. Da Art of Storytellin' Pt. II, Skew it on the BBQ, Rosa Parks and Slump are just so ridiculously good, and even Mamacita goes hard despite some hilariously bad rhyming by the guest artists ("I got your favorite Stoffer's lasagna / That's how much I want ya"). Erykah, Raekwon, Cee-Lo, George Clinton, and of course Dungeon Family...what a fucking album. Just pure creativity.
What makes a perfect album for all y'all listing tons of records? I love lots of this stuff, but I would never call any Tom Waits album or a non-London Calling or White Album double disc a perfect album. Even most of the really great releases out there have a song that isn't great or that doesn't perfectly fit in the flow. Just sayin', perfect should mean quite a bit.
Highway to Hell is better than Back in Black. I didn't read anything after that.
I can't believe this isn't up there already.
...and I can't believe you people of all people didn't choose this
and I'm gonna throw out this old favorite

And all 3 up there.
A perfect album to me is one that I can get lost in over and over again without skipping any tracks.
I'm not the most intelligent electronic music fan but I do absolutely love some of it to death. When I think of my favorite electronic music, I can usually point out a song or two from each artist and rarely does an entire album consume me. That's what makes Melody A.M. by Royksopp special to me. Not a second on this album goes by where I can say 'meh'.
Next up on my list is an album from a band I was raised on. Pink Floyd to this day remains to be one of the most exciting, interesting and experimental bands who made timeless music. My absolute favorite album of theirs that I find to be perfect is Wish You Were Here. It contains my all time favorite song "shine on you crazy diamond". All 9 parts are absolutley beautiful and glorious to my ears, then the rest of the album is far from just filler. My dad apparently used to rock me in his arms singing the earie lyrics to "welcome to the machine" when I was an infant. Then we have the all time popular classic "wish you were here" which is quite simply a song about being forced to submit and missing something, with words of conflict and love. Finally we have "have a cigar" which is the rotten pespective of the money makers in the biz who want you to pump out the tunes so their money stacks can grow. Lovely. This album shouldn't be discussed without the brilliance of the album cover art either. I found a lot of the surreal art work related to Pink Floyd to be fascinating and another aspect of this multidimensional band.
I'll leave it with these two for now.
I guess I wrote this off as another 'best albums ever' thread. They're kind of one in the same. But I guess this deserves more thought. I still stand by my Hold Steady choice.

"Mr. Toad's Wild Aidz."
In the same what?
I'm going to go by rating each song 1-10 and if all the tracks come out 8 and up it will be as close to perfect as possible. I don't know if I could think of an all 10 album.

Like the same theme.

I don't get it![]()
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
Beck - Odelay
The Replacements - Tim
Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible
The Prodigy - Experience
Ice Cube - Death Certificate
Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die
The Who - Who's Next
REO Speedwagon - Hi Infidelity (I grew up with it)
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.
Upon a recent relistening, I will retract Back in Black from the list. I realized that I don't like a couple songs on there. Oh well.
I know I mentioned this album already, but "Grace" by Jeff Buckley is one album that I can put on my stereo, lay on the floor with my eyes closed, and just completely lose myself in the music. Every single song on Grace is brilliant, and I still get chills listening to Jeff singing Hallelujah.
