    Default TV/Movie pet peeves

ok, this is the thread where you post your TV/Movie pet-peeves. it can be anything. it could be production flaws, actor mistakes or writing mistakes, just post them here!

    my pet peeve:

actors talking while eating. they almost always seem to overdo it, like they've got a giant cock in their mouth or something. i was watching an old episode of frasier yesterday where he was talking and eating m&ms with someone, and you'd think they were eating a giant turkey bone or something. the ladies on sex and the city are awful about this too.

anyways, what's YOUR TV/Movie pet peeve?!

yes! and when the conversation lasts like two seconds, and then they get off and take 5 minutes to explain what the person said and they magically got directions to where they're going in all that too.

Product placement annoys me to no end. Too bad it's virtually unavoidable.

the canned honking noise trucks make when they pass is obnoxious. it's the same in EVERY.MOVIE!

also, it's sooooo annoying when someone obviously has to clear their throat, and they just keep talking. CLEAR YOUR DAMNED THROAT! YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO MAKE THE *AHEM* NOISE, JUST BREATHE AND SWALLOW!

He's Jack Bauer. He gets things done. He killed logic by biting its neck off and then urinating down its neck.

Car doors are never locked. Characters just close the door and walk away (usually with the windows down too)

When they come back, the car's still there - WITH THE FUCKIN' STEREO!!

    That never happens in reality!

I hate it when Morgan Freeman is the wise black man.
At some point in time a man switches from "I'll have what he's having" to "I'll have what I'm having."

I hate the use of stock sounds.

I hate that Darren Aronofsky used Rachel Weisz(his wife) in The Fountain. She sucks and I can't stand how she uses her voice. If he continues to use her in his films I will be thoroughly pissed off.

    Sports movies involving underdog teams.

Remakes of foreign films. The pang brothers did a great job on The Eye, no need to remake it because americans are too lazy to read subtitles.

Remakes of classics. Naomi Watts in a remake of The Birds, are you fucking kidding me?

i also hate when people are hiding and "whispering" (never sounds like real whispering) from a bad guy who's in the same room and magically the bad guy never hears them.

I hate it when 90 minutes of stylized slow motion blood spatter replaces actual storytelling in movies these days...

You're a retard. It would look really cheesy to speed up the running. Just watch old Batman and Robin or Wonderwoman episodes to see how much better the slowed down effect is.

What should piss you off is the inclusion of the names of real-life bands in movies and tv shows to convey a character's "hipness." Like when a character is dark and brooding and listens to a lot of Radiohead and makes fun of her family members when they ask her about Sleater-Kinney or something. God I hated even typing that shit.

I hate when volume level is manipulated. Example. I turn up the volume on a movie because two people are speaking in a low tone then all of a suddon "BOOM or CRASH". I quickly lower the volume then another scene of low talking happens again. One arm has to stay pointed toward the set throughout the entire movie.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

i might be alone in this boat, but it really annoys me when characters are having a conversation thatīs actually two different conversations, and each is talking to themselves. ie: The Gilmore Girls!!

When people are shown driving a car that they are not really driving and overcompensate on teh steering wheel, going back and forth.

I hate the music-video-style jittery, fast-motion, jump-cut editing that lots of TV directors still use, apparently on the assumption that we have such short attention spans that we'll switch channels if the camera doesn't change angles, zoom back and forth or wiggle around every five seconds. I've watched shows where they are supposedly showing you how to, for example, refinish your hardwood floor, but the camera work and editing is so frantic you can't tell what the hell the people are doing.

i also hate how they look at the person sitting next to them for like 5 minutes without ever looking back at the road.

The drunken camera work employed on every MTV Cribs episode.

Unrealistic blood. Shouldn't they have the right consistency and color after all these years?

Shitty accents! I just saw The Departed and the faux Boston accent annoyed the hell out of me.
I'm actually avoiding Blood Diamond just because of that.
