    Default Untitled by Spiritualized

Anyone? This was definitely one of the best experiences I had all weekend. I expected a cool, slightly psychedelic experience and I was almost moved to tears by the beauty the art project. It was so well executed and so completely surprising.

They were rad like usual. It was my third time seeing them. This time Jules was more talkative. I like how he changed up the lyrics and Reptillia. It was really weird seeing Albert not using his guitar and playing the keyboard for games.

Felt like something you'd see at a MoMA.
I dug it, and everyone in there at the time seemed to get something from it as well.

A nice break from the sun too.

    this.

honestly I had no clue what the fuck I was supposed to do in this structure...

the background chatter of everyone else in there was quite distracting, kudos to whoever enjoyed or was moved by this but it felt flat to me.

I'm surprised you enjoyed it so much. I thought the concept was cool but the execution (not to mention the horrible sound quality of those directional speakers) was lackluster.

Explain what you mean by bad execution, guys. I had no problems with it, I found places where the aleatoric effect combined perfectly with the music to create these really isolatingly beautiful moments.

    1. Poor quality speakers
    2. Interior design was haphazard. Duct tape everywhere.
    3. Not even looping the full song, and the stems they did use were completely devoted to vocal and droning melodic material like the organ.

    1. It was an art exhibit in a nearly soundproof room in the middle of the desert. The song is tranquil. Not sure how loud and booming you were hoping for.
    2. They spent most of the first day repairing it.
    3. The point of the exhibit was to have synchronous loops, so they could only use the stems that fit the "in rounds" section.

Jason's webmaster interviewed me afterwards for some sort of pitch package they plan on making because I was so enthused about it. I probably spent an hour in there just taking in the wash of noise

And tral!, there's no way pictures or video would adequately capture it, because it's a piece that really requires you being there to experience the effect.

Absolutely, trying to explain it to people afterwords was a waste of time as well. The tranquility of it was just out of this world, I didn't really notice the different parts of the song becoming more clear in the different stages but now that I think about it I remember hearing it differently in certain parts of the room. Did anyone else notice the walls around the lights closing in at certain points? This was honestly one of the best parts of the festival for me, I almost cried when I left it for the third time on Sunday afternoon, and I was sober that time around.

A bunch of ppl sitting around in a dark (but not so dark as to be atmospheric) room with fake skylights while a looped song plays? I mean...even the idea is pretty "concept art 101." I had a more intense experiences listening to that album alone in my room than in a big thrown-together black-painted room covered in cheap carpeting.

Not at all, but did you get to really see all the nuances of the room? Each of the lights represented a different isolated part of the song that came to the foreground when you stood in that patch of light, and different parts of the room had isolated areas where you could hear two or three parts of the song combining to create really wild combinations. Coupled with the fact that it's a chamber designed to absorb loose sound, I thought it was a really wild idea.

That's an interesting perspective. I kind of wished I could have stayed in there longer to see what the point of it was. It would have been nice if some sort of explanation of the thing was mentioned somewhere? Or was there? A chamber designed to absorb loose sounds? Yeah, I did not know that. I think the experience was ruined right off the bat when everyone went in and were all of a sudden just taking pictures of each other in the light. "Like is that it?" sort of thing. Looking into the light was an interesting experience, but hearing the different sounds was something I wouldn't of even thought of trying to do probably mostly because the song itself was low in volume and many people were just talking and giggling from taking silly pictures of each other in the light. My gf thought the point was to simulate space and I'm guessing it's because of the song. I couldn't understand it. Maybe it would have been better if less people were in it, but yeah, that would have takin' forever. I think I was waiting in line for 30-45 min. Actually, I don't know how long we waited, but it felt like an hour to be honest. That anticipation alone has you expecting something big. Hmmm. Ah well.

I wish I could have made it in there, but I didn't ever want to wait in the lines and never remembered to check it out early. A couple of my friends got lucky on friday, they asked when it opened and it was in a few minutes with like 5 people in front of them in line. So they were some of the first attendees in there.

Also, did anyone that actually loves Spiritualized not enjoy the exhibit? I thought that a poorly lit, white room was very fitting of the song and experience.

I avoided Mumford and Sons by hanging out in Untitled. It was absolutely enthralling to experience.

I unfortunately never went in, but my gf who does love them and that album in particular was extremely underwhelmed by it. She said she spent like 15 minutes in there too

I love Spiritualized and I fucking missed this. Every time I thought about it, the lines were really long and everyone looked hot and sad and smelly. Like me, only I wasn't on a line.

But I'm definitely sorry I couldn't have experienced it to see if I fell more in line with Bryan's or Aaron's perspectives.
