    Default TV On The Radio

Has anyone heard anything about what they are up to? Their website and myspace hasn't given much useful info for awhile.
I've always been a little worried they're going to be a band that breaks up in their prime when they could have a few more great albums in them. I could see them breaking off to do their own projects. Hopefully they're just on a break right now and come back with something within a year.

They're okay. My favorite is "Young Liars." Listen to it NOW!

But yes...anyone who is interested should definitely listen to 'Young Liars.'

Their first album is fantastic. I still haven't bought the second one, but it is good. I don't enjoy them live.

Return to Cookie Mountain is excellent. I was lucky enough to catch them play a show at a little club here in Santa Barbara called Soho when they toured for that album and it was awesome. The stage is only about 2 feet off the ground so you get the real intimate sort of feel. The band had a great energy as well and performed the songs really well. I wouldn't mind seeing them again.

When/where'd you see them? They are somewhat hit or miss. When they hit the show is astounding, some of the best live music around. When they miss things just don't flow at all. When they opened for Massive Attack, it was majestic.

I first saw them beat box before The Faint in Ft. Worth.

The second time around Kip Malone drew me a pitcure of a rabbit in Deep Ellum.

I saw them open for Massive Attack. I wanted them to committ to shoegaze. It didn't happen. Same deal when I saw them open for Franz Ferdinand in SF.

I'm sorry that it takes such a basic level of intellect to not be swayed by the indie hype given to these sub-par musicians (and singer, especially the singer), please try again next time to submit a band that backs up the hype with actual talent.

Oh, and one that doesn't utterly blow.

    Thank you. =D

    PFFT. Hahahahah. Cute.

You want falsetto? Go listen to Jeff Buckley. Or Thom Yorke, but that mindless drone buried so far in the mix is hardly noticeable, if relevant at all.

the voice is not EVEN buried in the mix. it's actually quite hard to NOT hear the falsetto. fix your ears, then come back.

Dude, Lee. You have knowledge of like five bands. You like The Smiths, Jeff Buckley...I guess Radiohead now...okay, three bands. Now you are trying to be authoritative master of musical taste.

LIKING THE SMITHS DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE AN EXPERT ON EVERY OTHER BAND IN THE WORLD AND A TASTEMAKER. YOU ARE PART OF A LARGE GROUP OF SMITHS FANS. THIS IS NOT AN EXCLUSIVE CLUB.

Oh, and The Smiths are one of the prototypical indie bands.

I was unimpressed by their performance at Coachella 2006, I was blown away by their performance in SLC at a small club like 7 months ago.

I have heard some other people who were dissappointed with their 2006 coachella preformance, but I saw them about a week after Coachella in Seattle, and they were awesome.

maybe he is saying it sarcastically, like battles sucks but to him TV on the radio sucks more?
I don't feel that way (cept I'm not really into battles), I'm just interprating.

TV on the Radio is really good live. i like their music and all but they were better than i expected. I've seen them twice (Coachella and NIN tour) but i really wouldn't mind seeing them again.

I have in-depth knowledge of the Smiths, and full-collections of somewhere between 20-40 bands.

Is that a deciding factor in saying TVoTR sucks? I doubt it would make any difference whether I knew every band in existence, inside and out, or not. My musical knowledge is ever-growing, ever-evolving, but at the end of the day, TVoTR will still suck, Andrew.

For the record, I don't think having exclusively limited knowledge makes one a valid judge of talent... I mean, just look back at DeltaSigArcadeFireFanatic's views. Basically, what I'm saying here is, I'm not saying TVoTR sucks because I'm a Smiths fan, I'm saying TVoTR sucks by virtue of making lousy music.

Also, I'm nowhere near an authority on RH, nor do I try to be, but the end point is that TVoTR is just unimpressive and musically uninteresting, basically bland and boring.

All I am pointing out is the fact you try and make authoritative statements about bands or records when you are in no position to make authoritative statements. Unless I am missing something tongue-in-cheek, which I don't think I am, it is obnoxious.
