Car Camping Spots: First Come, First Serve?

Just wondering how car camping spots are claimed once they open the gates... Are you directed to a spot, or can you pick any spot from any lot? Do the people who arrive first get the spots closest to the entrances?

it's first come first serve. you can't pick out which spot you want, nor save spots for others. it's wherever they direct you, that's where you camp.

Think of Lot 13A as the top of your glass & lot 5 as the bottom. That's how I see it, but I could be wrong.


Edit: and I'd probably fill the east side of Lot 8 (the diagonals) first, the the west side (animal streets)

If you are trying to guestimate where you may end up in the campsite, here's what I figure. Last year I arrived in lot 13 after 1am Thurs night/Fri morning. Ended up in Lot 10 at roughly Duck Street, West side of 2nd Ave about 1/3 the way in. Keep in mind there was no Lot 5 for Car Campers last year though. There maybe other factors involved this year that make last year's data invalid, but it's a rough estimate.
