Thanks for giving this its own thread, SupreChris. I worried that not enough people would read it buried in the Coachella 2011 thread.

Good article. I'm so, so relived to read that Paul T. is owning up to the fact that there were simply too many people. From what I have read, it seems like an obvious fact to absolutely everyone, but it's nice to have Goldenvoice say it on record.

Also, I want to know which bands were caught selling their VIP passes in the parking lot.

    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

I was wondering what bands were doing, too. Sneaky, sneaky...

I really respect Paul T. for getting this out there in the open. And for what it's worth, I have spoken with a lot of people (mostly the I'm there only to party types) whose first Coachella was 2010 and didn't think it was overcrowded at all. It's heartening to know that Paul wants to satisfy the long term Coachella attendees who are there for the music.

    Pretty much.

Honestly, I feel that if the media hadn't picked up on how big a stink "Clusterfuckchella" made of 2010, we probably wouldn't have seen any reaction at all to what transpired. This article MIGHT indicate some changes being taken in 2011, but I wouldn't be so naive.

"It's been a hundred days now since the show, and we've been writing notes down [about] how to make this show better," he says. "Almost across the board, each one of us came up with the same note: less people.

I don't understand why everybody is so quick to say they'll pay more money for less people. Yeah its a great value to see all these different acts but when you take into consideration the short set times & scheduling conflicts its actually about right if not a lil pricey. Goldenvoice fucked up with their high tech bracelets and were unprepared to handle mass perimeter crashing. The buck shouldn't be passed on to the fans that made Chella what it is but that's looking like what is coming. Hopefully the headliners will be worth the money.

^ Huh? I doubt that's what is going to happen. I think it is relatively safe to assume, based on Paul's statement in that article, that there will be less than 75,000 tickets sold. At the same price they were sold in 2010.

I've read numerous posts of dumbasses declaring they would pay "X" amount more for less people. Great idea. Already the most expensive fest for admission.

Passive, I think you're confusing the real world with this message board...

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one.
If they were looking to make a fake apology they would have made it a much grander empty gesture. And it would have happened months ago.
"All of you coachella 'regulars' have nasty boy pussies and itchy dick4's on your asses.
Why don't you all make like a tree and get chopped down and die. You all have been dreadfully mean to me.

Fuck you all. Consider this my resignation.
