Whiskey Sour
2 oz blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1 cherry
1/2 slice lemon
Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
The energy was amazing, and it provided the kick in the pants I sorely needed after a lacklustre Cold Cave set and a few hours of heat-induced torpor. I seriously doubt they can match it at TI fest unfortunately.
The more I look at the lineup for Saturday (can't attend on Sunday), the more I think Flying Lotus is the only act I'm truly jazzed about. Seems he's old hat for much of the board but I'm stoked, having never seen him.
Nice lineup! I will be going for a 2nd year in a row. This time for both days.

I'm beginning to wonder if they just couldn't lock down a Sunday headliner or if one fell through. Empire of the Sun is probably less-known than Deadmau5, Girl Talk, and TV on the Radio were in their respective Saturday subhead years. Do they even have enough music to fill a headlining slot? I just don't get it. Death Cab: I get. I don't like it, but I get it. This leaves me puzzled.
Uh, Justice only had one album when they headlined Treasure Island, too.

When it comes to festivals, I don't usually pay too much heed to who headlines. But for Treasure Island, I feel a good headliner is kind of crucial to get me out there due to the one artist playing per time.
So why the hell did they have a shit ton of people watching them at Coachella while a band with a longer track record (animal collective) was on the main stage?
And yes, they have one album and are going to headline. Not unheard of.
Its Saturday, kids will come in droves, they got nothing else to do.

Not really...they were billed on the 3rd line for Coachella this year and on the 3rd line for OSL last year. With the exception of LCD Soundsystem, that's about the same billing that previous Saturday TI headliners have had.
Also, Jens Lenkman is doing a night show for TI at the Academy of Sciences on the Thursday night before the fest.

I would love either a Battles, YACHT, or FlyLo late night show.
Bands playing the festival don't usually play the 'after parties', do they? Maybe I'm mis-remembering, but I thought has generally been bands that weren't on the lineup.
Some play the nights leading up to that week. Last year Die Antwoord played that Friday night, and the Rogue Wave & The Growlers played Saturday night.
So a St. Vincent/The Antlers show would please the heck out of me. And I feel like FlyLo playing a late night set somewhere is entirely possible.

Dan Deacon W/ Ed Sharpe played after '09 on Saturday.
Yup, Jen & I. I was going to say I didn't think you were on the board back then, which a quick gander at your October 2009 join date confirmed.
Hot Chip was probably the worst because we had these stupid girls shove their way in front of us to jump around and sing horribly along to one another for 15 seconds of "Ready for the Floor" before deciding they had made enough of an appearance to warrant bragging to their friends and shoving their way back out.
CSS was fun, though.
The part that seems weird to me about Empire of the Sun is not so much that they only have one album, but more that the one album will have celebrated its third birthday prior to Treasure Island.
And let's agree that this is not exactly in the same category as, say, the after-the-fact tours for The Eraser or Third.
Saturday is the day i'd go...I was hoping for Foster The People on this bill. How likely is Beach House for an after party?
Sorry if this has been discussed, but it looks like the Drums are doing an official aftershow...
10/14 – San Francisco, CA @ The Independent (Treasure Island Night Show)
*I suppose Pre-show would be the better term, since this is on Friday night.

Word to the wise: The Drums are abysmal live.

^ Thanks for the warning, would have been well up for that otherwise. Probably going to hit the AYLI shindig @ PW on 10/14. I'll post details in this thread at some point for those visiting from out of town and looking to party into the wee hrs of Saturday morning.
I saw The Drums at Bonnaroo this year and rather enjoyed their set...

I was counting on this to be my first, awesome festival since moving to Northern California but I don't think I can justify spending $100+ on ticket and a ride up from Santa Cruz and a place to stay. HOWEVER, I'm just wondering if Treasure Island ever does late additions to the lineup?
7/24 - Stevie Wonder @ Hollywood Bowl
