unless the campgrounds are closed off again, which we do not know yet. i believe every year i have gone since '07 the campgrounds were closed off to the public...last year was the first time it was all open, and so the city probably did not like it and the festival will go back to the old format

actually aphxtwinin you might be partially right.... The facebook page just removed the "due to local concerns" from the facebook event, so it is a possibility that someone else is doing the campground afterhours, maybe a different promoter/label per night ala 2009?

Unfortunately, there will be no Pure Filth after-hours stage in the campgrounds at the festival this year.

This is very very upsetting. I LOVED the after-hours tent in camping. Will there be a Thursday night party?

So they announced 2 new artists, a disappointing stage setup, and no after-hours thing for the campers. Why even issue a press release? At least they highlighted the fact that they might cause sound bleed at the festival (or at least cause people like Fax to wonder/worry about sound bleed). Pure Filth needs a PR person.

Was the dome even there in 2009? I don't remember... in 2006 it was there, in 2007 it was there (Cut Chemist in the dome is still one of my favorite Coachella sets of ever), and I'm not sure if it was there in 08 - 10?

Fuck, you're totally right. That dome was kind of sick / kind of wack. They had a good lineup on Saturday night I think, AC Slater and some other dudes, but it was really small and basically at the entrance which was difficult to get to. Plus, it's hard to choose to see something on a tiny stage with minimal production when the Sahara is cracking off at the other end of the festival.

Afterhours was so silly, they had to clear everyone out before they'd let us back in, so it was around 2am or so when we got to go back to the stage. Everyone was a ZOMBIE, the vibe really was not there.

I just remember that on Friday of 09 a bunch of the acts that were supposed to play in the dome didn't during Paul McCartney's set. Then some guy working for the festival told my boyfriend and I that all of those acts would be playing the late-night set instead, so we waited until like 2:30 AM until they let us back in.....and those acts weren't there at all. Yeah there was like zero vibe there that night, I don't even know who was playing but I remember a lot of dub that made me a lot more sleepy.

So the dome is back? Except it's like how it used to be, what with the plants, and the water. Necessary improvements: Visuals (any visuals), they seem to have covered in the press release. Easy Sahara ---> Dome access, however, has not been addressed.

I'm just going to pretend that whole "No Camping Sessions" discussion never happened.

I remember a security guard going around and shining a light at anybody sitting/lying down... I think he was making them stand up too. Yeah, that afterhours thing was really wack now that I remember it. It was sick last year in the campsite but sounds like that's not happening
