Default Planning a night out in LA/Hollywood...please help

So I was asked today to help with ideas for my mom's good friend's 50th birthday. They're celebrating on Saturday, May 14th, and are planning on taking a party bus up to LA. None of them know the city very well, and need ideas on what to do.

Everything from late afternoon drinks to dinner to a place to get drinks after to maybe even a concert. Most of the women are around the age of 50, and look great for their age. That being said, they don't want to go anywhere that's full of 20-somethings.

I know a lot of you know LA like the back of your hand...any help would be greatly appreciated!

If for some strange reason they haven't yet, I'd definitely suggest visiting the Getty. If they want a beach vibe for dinner/drinks, Paradise Cove in Malibu is a great place, but they're from SD so I'm sure it's not a big deal to them. See if there's anything at Disney Hall. If they're into the whole pseudo-celebrity thing have them eat at the Ivy for lunch.

What do they normally do for fun back at home? Would you imagine them wearing jeans, cocktail dresses, or evening gowns... i.e. will they change clothes or keep the same outfit on?
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

They're all very down to earth, normal housewives for the most part. I imagine they'll all be dressed very nicely, not evening gowns but definitely cocktail dresses.

Got this request specifically - "Are there any club-type places for the not-so-young? I'm thinking she wants to party..."

    Any ideas?

I'm in my 50s and I have no idea where women of any age would want to go in L.A......but why wouldn't she want to spend time with people in their 20s? Perhaps you are stereotyping her, or you are not wanting to be seen with her with people closer to your own age. I find all ages fun to be with - don't limit your (or her) choices for a fun time. Coachella is mostly 20s - but it's a fun time for all. My father is 88, and I don't take him to places and events that attract 80 year-olds. Have you asked your mother what she would like?

I was told directly that they want to go somewhere where it's not just people in their 20s. You're looking way too much into it.

Edit: And just to be clear: I'm not going with them, just trying to help them organize the night.

Pretty sure when you get a group of normal housewives on a Party Bus together, they'll be half-faced by the time they arrive in L.A. so, I'd maybe plan for a nice dinner somewhere to prep their tummies and their minds for the next festivity...more drinks and dancing. I'd think L.A. would have "Cougar Bars" you could find listed somewhere. The show sounds good too. Then again, normal housewives in a pack could also be sent out on their own, with their buzzes on, and can probably manage to find more fun that any of us can recommend. lol

Not a bad idea GPS, the Bowl's kind of a final destination for a night kind of place though. Keep the ideas coming!

Edit: And off topic, how the fuck is Zac Brown playing the Bowl?!? Must be part of a show with other big names.

I'd recommend the San Antonio Winery for wine and dinner ( http://www.sanantoniowinery.com ) then a show after at the Ahmanson Theatre with a 6:30pm showing of a play comedy called "God of Carnage" (http://www.centertheatregroup.org/theatres/ahmanson). Wine,Dinner, and a play seems like a pretty fun night out for the girls.
