Thread: Any tips for cabs?

    Default Any tips for cabs?

I'm staying at a nearby hotel, but not one of the ones big enough to be on a shuttle route. I saw on the coachella directions page that there's a spot for cabs...how reliable is it? Anyone have any tips for getting one at the end of the night? Am I screwed if I stick around for the full set from a headliner?

There are cabs lined up on ave 50 at Monroe every night after the show. It's the same place for normal pick ups and drop offs. It's about a 1/2 mile walk from the entrance.

Yeah there is always a cab drop off area, and usually cabs are lined up.

For such events cabs from surrounding areas come in as well. So much money to be made it only makes sense.

Watching 600+ people waiting for cabs to pull up 2 to 3 at a time every half hour or so was sad. People were sad, drunk, tired, or a combination of the 3. I was offered either 50 or 100 bucks to drive 3 Aussie guys back to their hotel.

This also reminds me of the 2 guys who jumped in the back of my car on my way in while my friends were peeing and said something to the effect "let's go". I turned around and they realized that they had jumped into the wrong car.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

So would you more recommend trying to take the hotel shuttles and then walk about a mile from the bigger hotels to mine? If the cab line is going to be silly, I might go with the shuttle, even if it means a little walk.

I'm wondering about a cab early in the morning back to the house I'm staying at, if I happen to stay in camping for the night. Has anyone seen them out that early or think I can call one?

That's what I would do. I remember sitting on the balcony last year watching those shuttles pass by and the same thing when we got home.

What I can't account for was how bad were the shuttle lines at the venue.

Shuttle lines weren't that bad last year. There was some waiting, but nothing compared to the cab line or even getting out of the parking lot traffic. I imagine shuttle traffic will be even heavier this year, though. Friday last year shuttles were a bit of a clusterfuck, but by Sunday they had things going pretty smoothly with plenty of buses and traffic sorted out to get them in and out of the festival area.
