Zack (weekly) was supposed to start this thread a while back, but he didn't. I think he's still really depressed that they killed off Aquaman again.

I recently started re-reading the Grant Morrison Batman stuff, starting with Batman RIP. I really like how Grayson handles the role of Batman, and Damian is totally my favorite Robin of all time. Also, it reminded me of the 1-shot Neil Gaiman story they threw in there called "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader." It was a throwback to an old Alan Moore Superman story called "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow." Anyway, that story was fucking wicked, and unless you hate comics, you should pick it up.

I think when I get back from France, I'm going to pick up all the hardcovers of Blackest Night/Brightest Day and re-read through that stuff too.

Does anyone else read comics, or is it just me and the Zacks?

I've been reading a ton of comics recently. I'm three graphic novels in to Ex Machina, and I've enjoyed it for the most part. By the third one it's becoming kind of rote but it's still interesting. I just read Quitter by Harvey Pekar, and it's a really cool story about his childhood and all the stuff he dealt with growing up.

Have any of you guys read any of Jason's work? He's from a scandinavian country and he's a total badass.

Oh, and I finally finished the whole Sandman saga. I hadn't read the ending but knew most everything else, and I was very satisfied by The Wake.

If you collect comics as a form of investment, then you're doing it wrong.

Nobody complains that their DVD collection has lost value.

The last ongoing series I loved right through was Marvel Runaways. After Joss Whedon took the helm, it dipped in quality a little, but that says more about the remarkably high bar Brian K Vaughan set.

Otherwise, I do usually wait for the TPBs.

Hey Asshole-Zack, Aquaman WAS lame for quite some time. He has been on the up in coolness since 1994. I admittedly liked the lame Aquaman in addition to the new Aquaman but you shut your whorish mouth when talking about the sea king.

None of the heroes "killed" in Brightest Day by whatever existing construct of the White Lantern (Boston Brand or whoever it may be) were actually killed. Plus, Scott, Aquaman is already coming up in Flashpoint. DC has plans for him since he's been so popular in Brightest Day.

It will all be wrapped up shortly after Coachella. They will be resurrected and given a 2nd chance, at least that's the general consensus.

If it's not already apparent I have an extensive and valuable Aquaman collection that I've been taking care of since I was 12.

Geoff Johns is one of my favorites. The shit he did with The Flash and Green Lantern is pretty much where it's at.

Coming in 2013 from DC Comics… “Aquaman: Rebirth”
So my new pet theory is that Geoff Johns & Ethan Van Sciver will give Aquaman their “Rebirth” treatment within the next few years. I’m going to put a target date of 2013 on it simply because there was four years between “Green Lantern: Rebirth” and “Flash: Rebirth”. With “Flash: Rebirth” coming out in 2009, four years later would be 2013. If you do a quick Google search on “Aquaman: Rebirth”, you’ll discover I’m not the only person that has come to this conclusion. However, since I’m “Irredeemable”, I’m going to claim the theory to be completely mine. Therefore, you heard it hear first… “Aquaman: Rebirth” shipping in 2013 by Geoff Johns & Ethan Van Sciver!
Believe it or not, I really think this series could happen. First off, both Johns and Sciver has publicly admitted their interest in working on Aquaman (see article snippets below). Second, if you look at the “Big Seven” characters from the Justice League, Aquaman is the next obvious choice for them to revamp. The “Big Seven” consist of the following: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter. For the “Big Three” (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman), they most likely won’t be receiving a “Rebirth” style make-over anytime soon. They’re simply too established and currently moving forward. Johns & Sciver have already tackled Green Lantern & Flash. That just leaves Aquaman and Martian Manhunter. Well… Martian Manhunter is currently dead. I’m sure DC will bring him back at some point, but he doesn’t have the rich legacy-filled history that Johns typically likes to dive into.
Maybe I’m wrong here, goodness knows most of my theories don’t pan out, but I’m putting pixel to screen on this one. So in 2013, you may hear me shout across the inter-web, “I told you so!”

i didn't BUY them as an investment
but the reason i KEPT my comic books 20 years was in the hope that they would be worth something someday and i could give them to my son... i have moved countless times in 20 yrs and space is ALWAYS an issue so i have given away all my old books a dozen times over but i always managed to keep the comics somewhere some way.... i could still probably tell you what happens in any comic i own just by looking at the cover...

I remember my dad brought me a first issue of howard the duck telling me it was going to be worth money lol.Is it me or old comics are hard to read because the art is so crappy compared today's quality?I wanted to read swampthing(I think alan moore wrote some issues)but couldn't get pass a couple pages.I know im lame but im not as lame as aquaman.

the art in older comics is just a different style. it's not worse, but that's just your opinion I guess.

but yeah, Alan Moore did write some swamp thing stories. i haven't read any of it, but his other DC stuff is super awesome. He wrote a bunch of old Green Lantern that is really awesome and basically set up the whole Blackest Night/Brightest Day thing.
