Surprised not to see a thread on Jessie J here even though I'm sure the lot of you would protest. I've kind of been a bit obsessed with her since her performance on SNL last weekend. I'm a little late to the game with her, but she's still hardly known about here in the States. I should probably hate her, but I can't. She has an amazing voice, I like her style & dig a lot of her lyrics. Lady Gaga & Katie Perry should take note or just GTFO. Coach should add her. Enjoy...

What makes you believe that? I get the cookie cutter argument & the distaste for mainstream pop in general, that's why I feel she is someone I too should dislike. However, she has a wonderful voice & can bring it live. Not all her tracks are winners, but for the most part she has fun clever lyrics & sings about the things that truly matter in this world. IMO she's less Brittney & Katie Perry, more Esthero & Robyn. For that edge, I dig her.

okay. Have fun ragging on her. When you lay the lyrics out like that it's easy to make them seem silly (and perhaps they are), but I could do the same with a lot of Robyn's lyrics. Yet I'm sure you'd be quick to defend her because she gets the hipster vote of approval.
