    Edit:

The MUTEK name has become synonymous with ground-breaking live performances by the most adventurous talents contemporary electronic music has to offer, and this edition is no exception.

Over 95% of our carefully selected participants will be playing live as opposed to DJing, and every single one of them has been selected to suit thematically cultivated showcases. Among those are 8 world premieres, 9 North American premieres, and 9 Canadian premieres.

For all of you who are wondering where your favourite acts will land in the five-day program, here’s a day-by-day breakdown of all the highlights:

    DAY 1: WEDNESDAY JUNE 1

Ninja Tune royalty AMON TOBIN offers the world premiere of ISAM, his first-ever live performance featuring an enormous and ultra-secretive stage set-up that promises otherworldly experiences.

Finland’s legendary MIKA VAINIO, former-half of pioneering industrial minimalists Pan Sonic, makes his MUTEK debut with an all-new live audio-visual concert.

Also performing on Wednesday: BADAWI, EMPTYSET, GOLD PANDA, PURFORM

    DAY 2: THURSDAY JUNE 2

Mexican ambient-techno producer MURCOF delivers his supple blend of cutting-edge rhythms and Arvo Pärt string textures to a special collaboration with ANTIVJ's Simon Geilfus. The European based visual label has developed a stage design composed of three massive screens to create a three-dimensional cosmos.

A night of bass in all its wide-ranging permutations! MODESELEKTOR bring their hotly anticipated Modeselektion night to the Metropolis. The “no holds barred” German duo will be DJing alongside their selected guests, including mysterious industrial-dubstep duo ANSTAM, New York garage revivalist FALTYDL, Montreal bass producer JACQUES GREENE, and high-end electro maven SIRIUSMO.

Also performing on Thurdsay: ARP, ARTHUR OSKAN, BILLY DALESSANDRO, GROJ, ORGAN MOOD

    DAY 3: FRIDAY JUNE 3

PLASTIKMAN, the most heralded figure in Canadian electronic music history will finally return to the country of his origins to present the music and persona that first catapulted him into one of the most influential figures in techno.

Detroit dub-techno duo DEEPCHORD arrives for a rare Montreal appearance to present their revered ECHOSPACE persona. Industrial-strength techno veteran Adam X will be on hand to take us through his TRAVERSABLE WORMHOLE.

Also performing on Friday: JIRKU, KOMODO, SCULPTURE, SKINNYBONES, TRISTAN PERICH, WOMEN WITH KITCHEN APPLIANCES, XI

    DAY 4: SATURDAY JUNE 4

Veteran producer TERRY LEE BROWN JR. tackles Chicago house flavours from a decidedly Teutonic perspective with guests Border Community and Ninja Tune recording artist LUKE ABBOTT and the young British producer FLOATING POINTS at this year’s MUTEK//PIKNIC event.

This year, we’ve got two MUTEK//PIKNIC events in store: one with a full confirmed line-up and a second that’ll be a complete surprise! The confirmed event will happen on Saturday, June 4th. If it rains that day, the event will be moved to Sunday, June 5th, and replace the surprise event.

UK jazzy house fusionists ROCKETNUMBERNINE lock into an onstage improvisational groove with FOUR TET for an altogether different shade of North American premiere.

Canadian dub-techno producer DEADBEAT and German video artist LILLEVAN offer a North American premiere of their new collaboration.

Also performing on Saturday: BABE RAINBOW, CALAMALKA, CHANCHA VIA CIRCUITO, DAEGA SOUND SYSTEM, ELEKTRO GUZZI, THE GULF STREAM, JAMES HOLDEN, MAX ULIS, MICHAEL RED, MONOLITHIUM, POLE, SOL DEL RIO, STEPHEN BEAUPRÉ

    DAY 5: SUNDAY JUNE 5

Akufen’s Marc Leclair shows up for the world premiere of a new live show for his HORROR INC. alias.

Japan’s house-music specialist RADIQ arrives at MUTEK for a North American debut.

Also performing on Sunday: DANUEL TATE, WAREIKA

All this and so much more will come together to make MUTEK 2011 one of our eclectic and adventurous editions to date! See you in June!

It's less varied, yeah. Definitely more straight up dance music oriented. They'll add stuff though.

So who all, if anyone, is doing Mutek this year (and is there usually a boardie meetup)??? I'm planning/hoping on going for the first time this year, but a) would be rolling solo and b) speak very little French, so am just *slightly* concerned. LOL.

You don't need to speak French in Montreal, it's all good. Most everybody speaks English. It's a very international city. Yes, i've been and I'm speaking from experience.
